    1. Looks fine to me, very similar to mine. It does look shiny hence the flash question I guess.
    2. Crazy price indeed but a beautiful example.
    3. Reading this thread reminded me that, some time ago, I saw a few photographs of German soldiers being held in Grimsby in "Weelsby Woods". There is a large "green" in front of these woods and a small cafe is now sited there. I am told by locals that this is the last remaining hut where the soldiers were held. This does not appear on the list on the linked websites. I would be interested to read more if you do come across Grimsby in your research. In the meantime I will look for the photos.
    4. These are not really "my thing" but here's a shot of a shop window in Istanbul last year.
    5. Following the comments made by Matthias, here is the case with a KO EK2. Obviously not correct in there.
    6. Jerry, you seem to have the same problem as I have, judging by the shadow under the top arm...the cross does not fit in properly. I have a number of cases for WW1 EK2 and the crosses always fit in very nicely so I am intrigued. I cannot get to my collection and I will be away from the internet for a while but I will try to borrow a ko marked cross to try it out.
    7. I do not keep my collection at home so I will have to try WW1crosses in there next time I get access to them. I have never seen this type of catch on a WW1 case, have you?
    8. Ithink I know what you mean. Here's a mm24 in the case. As you can see, it still does not sit in the recess as perfectly as I would have expected it to. I tried all 28 EK2's I have and the gap between the base and the medal obviously varies depending on the size of the small ring at the top of the cross. A mm23 for example seems to have a smaller ring so the gap cross/base is reduced but.....maybe I am a perfectionist but it does bother me.
    9. Thanks. No cross with it yet although I am puzzled by the fact that a (small) ww1 EK2 does not fit in quite as well as it should..
    10. Hi, I would be interested to read your comments on this case.
    11. Here's a photo taken from Detlev's site for comparison. The L/54 is indeed under the catch for a start..
    12. well, that's a start, thanks. Anyone else
    13. I have this wonderful, large portrait of a KM officer. I would love to know more about him but the chances are obviously very slim. This lovely photo came with a few shots of the Scharnhorst (which I have now sold) hence my assuming that he was a member of her crew. Obviously these photos may have been put together by someone after the war but then again, maybe not. So, has any of you got any photos of the crew and in particular her officers? The name at the bottom of the photo is that of a photographer in Kiel I believe.
