    1. Interesting because British recipients were allowed to wear allied, including Dutch, decorations Paul
    2. Demir, do you have dimensions of the Bavarian Military Merit Order, it appears to have a neck ribbon so possibly Third class. All the best, Paul
    3. Wow Radmilo, I was unaware such a thing existed, amazing even if it has had cosmetic surgery. Paul
    4. Dorset roads seem to have been bad for motorcyclists, one famous victim T. E. Lawrence on his souped up Brough. Paul
    5. Last one I saw in around 2010 made £200,000 (around $300,000) so not a stupid asking price and I must confess from the image it looks real (although I sometimes wonder whether any high end Soviet is genuine but that is acute paranoia on my part) Paul
    6. Yep definitely Austrian. Paul
    7. Andreas It is definitely for a Burmese unit, very nice indeed. Paul
    8. Also what many people may be aware is that Wellington would have had quite a few cloth garters. It is just the paperwork that makes it nice. Paul
    9. The medals are rare but the documents are in another league, fantastic. Paul
    10. I remember the grouping, I catalogued when I was at Sotheby's about 15 years ago, at the time it made about £10,000, so it has made a 500% profit in 15 years ( why were the Cameron family investing in Panama when they could have got a better return buying this sort of stuff. Paul
    11. Radmilo, You'd better E-mail them, I had that piece I would definitely be in touch with the seller of the crown. Paul
    12. Thanks, if you had a piece missing the crown it would be well worth it for restoration purposes, otherwise maybe $100-200. Paul
    13. Pieter Very nice indeed do you have his other medals apart from those already displayed? Paul
    14. Very nice group, the certificate to the Panamanian medal is very nice and very rare. Paul
    15. The DSO is listed as gallantry but many first world war awards, especially to the higher ranks, were more an honorary distinction. In some cases I suspect it was for conspicuous champagne consumption 50 miles behind enemy lines (such as the general Melchett (of Black Adder fame) types). The Japanese recipients would have been hand picked by the government, very much as the British picked recipients of Japanese awards. Paul
    16. 21 DSO's were awarded to Japanese forces during WWI Paul
    17. Try https://www.cornwall.gov.uk/community-and-living/records-archives-and-cornish-studies/?page=1729 Which gives details of the Cornish County Archives in Truro, I suspect that's the only place where you will get any further. Paul
    18. I don't need Ancestry to drive me to that, my friends the pink iguanas are always insisting I have some Paul
    19. I am afraid Ancestry is about as much use alcohol free whisky, All I can find is that there is a gentleman of that name born in Truro in 1909 and apart from that nil. Paul
    20. As it is sent from the Home Secretary he is likely to be a policeman, whether a regular or a special cannot tell. Paul
    21. I agree with Ferdinand, I can't see anything wrong with them. Paul
