Victory Medal Research
christerd posted a topic in Great Britain: Orders, Gallantry, Campaign Medals
Hi all, I Just bought a common Victory medal but when I start to look for information it become more interesting. His name was Joseph Beard 306318 Sto 1 RN , born 7th June 1885 in Brighton, Sussex I couldnt get any medal card from National Archives? Is that because he was Royal Navy? But I downloaded his service record and trying do read thoose handwritten notes I found out that he been on HMS Castor, wasn?t she in the Jutland Battle? Does anyone know anything more about HMS Castor or Joseph Beard? He got the victory medal but I cant see if got anything else... Any info at all would be an early christmas present! Christer -
Hi Ed, Yes I suppose it was not common to take pictures in the 50?s or 60?s in Mongolia. So I understand they want to keep their photos. But of course the collector in me gets happy everytime one turns up! Here is three more Documents 1: 84187 2nd class awarded 1973, who do you think signed theese order books? 2: 132425 2nd class issued 1981 and 45507 1st class in 1985 to the same woman, if only I had the orders Well, something to look for in years to come... Mongolia Should the Mongolia forum be split?
christerd replied to Bob's topic in People's Republic Mongolia
Hi all! I am one of the collectors who hunted for Mongolian Items, when the "flood" hit us a couple of years ago! Ohh thoose where the days . Suddenly everything was there to buy, just the wallet kept me away from buying. And then ? There was nothing, almost as quick as it started is stopped.I have to admit that I started collect Bulgarian instead But I kept all my Mongolian of course and waited for something to happen. And now it seems like the time has come? Is there a book about numbered awards? In Mongolian What a christmas gift! Christer -
Here is the Backs! The long Imperial one is 100% genuine I think, the german/finnish I also belive is ok, inspite of the faker friendly back But the one with the odd ribbon last is feels ......hmmm looks similar to another bar shown here yesterday? Maybe someone in Germany have started a new business? The ribbons looks/feels old but, I don?t know. Christer
