    1. You guys have some great bars. None of my medal bars have more than two medals... but here they are!!!
    2. back Thank you all for looking and I look forward to seeing what you all have
    3. My favorite TR medal is the Lifesaving medal. I know that it is a really obscure area, but I just cannot get enough of them. Anyway, as far as I knew there were two accepted variations of this medal... The solid silver pendant that is hallmarked with the silver purity number and halfmoon(Left). The second variation is the silver plated zinc or tombak.(on the right). Based on another thread on the WAF, there is evidently a third variation as seen in this thread... There was a heated debate on it and it now has the backing of Detlev. http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/forums/sho...ad.php?t=116835 What do you all think about this. Have any of you ever heard of this variation? I have the opportunity to trade an item or two for this... I just want to hear some of your thoughts on the matter first. If you have pics of your lifesaving medals, please post them. Especially those on bars! Best regards Paul PS... I wish to apologize in advance for my crappy ability in photographing these medals. I took about 20 pics of these and cannot seem to get them to come out clearly!
    4. Nice!!! Is this bar in private hands or does it reside in a museum?
    5. Thank you Rick and landsknechte. I will do some checking soon and post some new photos once the project is done. I bet the the LW tabs would look great on a nice blue/grey material backing! Paul
    6. Faked uniforms... It makes one think... How many of the tunics in our WW2 collection are made in the same manner... Blank tunics that people(maybe germans themselves) added original insignia post war to sell to the sovenier hungry occupation troops. I see that happening a lot as I am sure that jobs were not the most abundant for a while. In most cases, we would never know Oberst Gen, I have the same issue with my wife now. I have so many East German tunics that she actually gets mad when I receive a TR item... not because of "what it is" but because of the quantity of items I have in the room!!! I only have seven TR uniforms now. To my wife, she view them one and the same!!!
    7. The worst part about field stripping the Tokarev is freeing the bolt from the receiver. Other than that, I was shocked to see how few pieces were present... I do remember the first time trying to field strip it, I because so angry I saw myself flinging it through a window! I traded an AR15 for my SVT40! I wanted one that badly. I had been looking for about two years(funny how rare things are when you are looking for them). I have not fired my WW2 weapons(except the mortar and P38 in re-enacting) in a very long time. I would say that the most accurate rifle would have to be the Mosin Nagant 90/31. I remember the Tokarev kicking like a mule, yet being really accurate. I never fired the Mosin Nagant M44 nor the Lugar). Thank you very much for your words of praise, Roy
    8. I really cant not see that medal in your avitar. Do you have a larger pic Regards Paul
    9. I agree with Gerd... When I was still buying these, I would buy the one with the lowest number for the same reasons... Pretty sad how the Order of Lenin and other orders were diminished as time passed... It went from being a high honor for sacrifice and heroism to being given as a token retirement present...
    10. Does anyone know why the regulations only allow the wear of two... Surely there were people out there that could have qualified for all three? Best regards Paul
    11. Deruelle, Very nice bars!!! I especially like the first one you posted!!!
    12. You know... I have been thinking about that for a weekend project. Is there such thing as an acid free material that will look good?
    13. Thank you for your compliment. That is one of the main attractions to the LW tunics and tabs for me!! I still have a lot of tabs to go in order to obtain all of the waffenfarbes! Best regards Paul
    14. I dont know Bob... But I do know that you have a very nice medal bar! Great find! Paul
    15. Thank you for posting your pics! They look to be beautiful helmets. I especially like your Heer example. Paul
    16. Nick(I do not know his last name) is listed as the Chairman. I would love to see some of your stuff! Please do post some pics! Paul
    17. Hi! It seems as if the prices have risen slightly. I dont think that the demand for these items has risen too much over the past couple of decades. Although, it did take German WW2 items three decades to become something collectable! Thank you for your compliments! Best regards Paul
    18. I can identify with you on more than one level. I am a member of two forums(This being one of them). Sometimes, even that is more than enough. The prices out there these days are just crazy. I started collecting TR back in 2002 and I thought that prices were bad then!!! What did you collect before? What type of cloth are you interested in collecting? Paul
    19. Stogieman would best answer this question, yet the price would depend upon many variables such as the awards represented, researchablity, and ect. No pun intended, but it is not so much the size that matters... it is the content. Just my two cents Paul
    20. This is the First East German Hero Grouping I have ever seen! Are there any photos of the gentleman? Best regards Paul
    21. That is understandable. A couple of years ago, I felt the same way! I have learned to buy from only trusted sources with a lifetime guarantee for authenticity and veterans who were actually there. I bought a lot of things from fellow collectors as well. But, as you know, no one is 100% right all the time. Always know what you are buying before you buy it. Forums like this and others are also great resources. Best regards Paul
    22. I read somewhere that these were pretty much inobtainable!!! What would be a fair market price for one? Nice find guys!!! PAul
