Congrats on your award. Do you know what it is yet? Mervyn, that is one impressive medal bar. That soldier saw a lot of action. Thank you for sharing it with us. Is there a way to obtain his battle record? It would be cool to see what he did during WW1.

Thanks guys. I place this in the same catagory as someone finding a basic German helmet and discovering that it is a covered over SS helmet! I am pretty excited about it still.

Now the big surprise... look what is peaking from under the paint... A nice red triangle. This is an honest to god Republican Guard helmet! Not some fake!

This is a true worn Combat item

I picked up this helmet for a very inexpenisive price. When I looked at it closely, it yeilded a nice suprise.

Thank you very much. I am really getting into these. The really high ranks are still available at reasonable prices, but still a challange to find them all. I have just received another lot and a Repubican Guard tunic/beret. I will post them in a bit.

Are those items commemorative/membership pieces, or are they awards?

I dont know much about the award protocols and who is required to sign what... All I know that this is a great set. I have not seen such a complete LWFD award document lot before.

Air Force- I have all of the highest ranks, but am missing many of the middle and lower.

Army Slides. Missing Captain and a Lieutenant General(Eagle, Swords, and One Star).

Here is my entire collection of Iraqi shoulder slides thus far. There are some serious holes in my Air Force and Navy branches. I have no Navy slides yet. All of these slides are verified originals(bought directly from the guys who brought them back), except for the Field Marshal set. The Saddam set was bought from the veteran who brought them back in 2003, but the buyer bought them thinking they were repros, but who knows.

I am interested in seeing it all. :love:

This is a very interesting piece of insignia. I dont think that the Syrians have a very large Navy. What makes this stand out as Syrian?
