Fighting knives
Rocky replied to bsweeney's topic in Germany: Imperial Uniforms, Headwear, Insignia & Personal Equipment
That is a nice assortment from many Wars. Thanks for sharing -- I do love knives. I understand WW II US fighting knives have had a lot of interest lately. I always thought fighting knives have been under collected just my opinion. -
EK 1914 Patriotic EK for neck-chain
Rocky replied to Peter J's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
Peter, Looks like a period piece of beautiful Patriotic Jewelry. I do believe these sort of items are under collected, priced right, beautiful and do exhibit the craftsmanship of that period. A very nice find indeed. -

Naval Insignia
Rocky replied to Rocky's topic in Germany: Third Reich: State, Civil, NSDAP Awards & Decorations
Rick & Taz, Bingo and fast as well. Thank You & Happy Holidays Paul, I believe it to be early 1900, it is in a perfect maroon push button case with a 25 on the top, perhaps a 25 year service award. This one resides in my collection. -
EK 1914 EK2 Stamped 800 on frme-Opinions please
Rocky replied to andy's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
I like the cross; however, one thing that is questionable to me is why would it be marked 800 way out on the corner ? I orginally thought it was on the obverse --- old eyes -

EK 1914 Yet Another Dual With Attachement Variaton
Rocky replied to Rocky's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross

Hi Gents, Another Dual EK I with a new twist for wearer. This unit has a double hooked Spange. Both the Spange and EK are unmarked. Obviously jeweler made or modified. With an expertly applied hinge placed between the Spange and EK. My only though hear might be to prevent the uniform from puckering when the person was in motion or bending etc. Please - any other ideas / suggestions would be most appreciated. Thank You. Obverse

Luftwaffe Salesman's Sample Board
Rocky replied to Rocky's topic in Germany: Third Reich: Wehrmacht Medals, Decorations & Awards
J. Temple - West, The sample board is very well made, the various insignias are attached through the black velvet covered board and tightly secured. The board is set into the frame and the reverse is covered with fabric on the back and paper on the corners. The front and back boards are riveted together as you can see on the obverse inner corners. So there is no way to see the makers mark. I did check the part numbers with my Assmann Catalog and they do not match. But they could have used different numbers in other countries? Thanks for the translation and thank you Bob and Paul for your compliments. More questions or information would be appreciated. Thank You -

Please Point Me In The Proper Direction
Rocky replied to Rocky's topic in Coins & Commemorative Medallions

Gentlemen, I recently found what I believe is an excellent Austrian Coin. It is about the size of a US Dime dated 1914. I thought it was a bit rare since it was in such great condition. Can someone either point me in the right direction for information or tell me anything about the coin such as what it is called, is it Austrian and is is common or rare? Thank You.

And Now For Something Insanely Rare
Rocky replied to a topic in Germany: Weimar Republic & Deutsche Freikorps
Rick, A real good looking unit. I am certain it is much more rare then RKs, DKs and most other items that are highly sought. I for one will buy a strange medal, badge or insignia in a minute. More often then not they are not too expensive, very attractive, and hard to find information on. Most of all they look super in a display.
