    1. Ralph, Outstanding group & case. WOW! :
    2. Mecklenburg-Schwerin non combatant and combatant . The non combatant is a tad smaller, perhaps just makers? Opinions welcome. Super topic!
    3. Chris, Thanks for sharing, outstanding docs, period frames very nice group.
    4. RicK, The metal is non magnetic, non plated, my guess would be aluminum. The ribbon has been black lighted and does not glow. Every ones comments so far have questioned the Dual State Long Services Awards, and I also do not have an answer. The Red Eagle is authentic, which is good for me. If I could find a correct ribbon I can add it to my collection of single awards. As far as the Medal Bar stands it is no longer for sale, but I would still like to continue to discuss the question of the metal hooks vs. authenticity. All good points so far. Thank You.
    5. Jacky, yes it is. However if the members feel it is incorrect it will be pulled. Thanks
    6. A question has been posed by some members regarding medal bars. Various reverse configurations have been seen. Some with the ribbons attached to the mount or an obverse hook and the medals are sewn to the ribbon or hook. Some of these have exposed metal and others are finished off with a fabric backing. The variation in question ( photo below ) has the medals suspended from metal hooks to allow the attachment. "]The Question: Is the medal bar with exposed metal hooks for suspending the medals considered a correct method being both authentic and acceptable, or are they considered non - authentic or "put togetehers." Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thank You
    7. Steve, The mottled paint on this EK is outstanding, it adds a lot of character. Overall a super nice group of EK's and thanks for sharing. Rocky
    8. Micha, Stunning EK I, first combination that I have seen exactly like that but a real keeper in super condition. I would assume it was manufactured by one of the "better maker."
    9. Very good and true points all! I do not know what some folks do for a living that enables them to channel $10,000.00 into a chained SS Dagger, or $3,500.00 - $ 7,500.00 into an SS Honor Ring. Even if you had unlimited resources I would think these are very volitile "investments." Folks often forget why they collect and they become followers. IMHO spending money like this on a collectibles from the TR could ensure that your dreams change from owning the items to how the H_ _L can I ever sell this stuff so I can retire. This forum has a small amount of TR Militaria compared to most, as a result you can see what beauty lives on in almost any countrys militaria. You will sleep good at night and retire and collect the rest of your life.
    10. Ricardo, Fine looking collection! I have not seen Brazilian orders and medals before. They are beautiful and enamelled, I like all medals and orders that are enamelled. Thanks for sharing.
    11. [attachmentid=46603] The other color post cards above are all real fine This is the only one I have.
    12. I can't believe I let it go. (2) Beautiful Early SA Daggers were offered to me at a good price, something had to go.
    13. VonLuger, First I have ever seen and a very nice variation. Now we will all begin to try to find one.
    14. Avitas, Looks like a Bronze grade and it also looks good. I have seen several "sets" like this where the badges owner purchased the stickpin post war, no swastika. Both are valid makers. One other thought is the stickpin was pre 1937 when the DRL had no swastika. I hope this helps. Rocky
    15. Dan, thank you for the information on the country of origin, Great Dane, the letter is an "L" -- thank yo u both. Rocky
    16. [attachmentid=42398] German Neck Award With Ribbon Marked In Gold "V. Wien Im Ringen 1907 ( Junior ??? 1907 1st Prize Gymnastics ) ( Rings ). To add a bit of perspective to the size of the Award the Red & White Enamel Cross is ~ 7.0 cm across. From the eagles upper wing to the bottom of the cross the award measures ~ 15.5 cm. Beautiful hand engraved reverse. Enjoy. Rocky
    17. Jan, WOW! now that is a collection to be proud of. Thanks for sharing.
    18. Thank you all for the information. Rick, Thank You. I find medal bars of all types to be interesting. Now I enjoy this one allot more.
    19. Bob, Red and white strips are nice, especially when the have swords and a couple medals hanging from them. I agree that the Austrian awards are very nice in deed. I love the detail, quality and enamel.
    20. Rick, Thank you as well. I am amazed at what you could tell about the medal bar. A fellow collector and I were wondering what or why he would have been awarded the Sudenten with Prague. He did suggest that the original owner was connected to the NSDAP some way but we could not figure it out. I guess this will be a question without an answer. Thank You I am eager to hear what Kev has to say about this one. It was his collection that made me decide to post one of mine.
