    1. Roman, What information I have (maybe you already have all this): Fritz Wilhelm Heinrich Kleineges, *4.3.1890 in Greste, Schötmar. Aktiver Wachtmeister, FAR 58, Haub.Bttr./Sturm-Btl. Rohr, promoted to Offz.Stellv. sometime between the time the LKEK was awarded and when he received it. mfG Dave
    2. Depends on what you think is high-ranking. All the WW1 orders are nice, but he had a very undistinguished later career.
    3. For the Bewährungsabzeichen, one had to be a native of Braunschweig. Didn't matter which unit. There are a handful of exceptions, where the Duke personally intervened, such as Lt.d.R. Werner v. Bülow, who was not a native of the duchy and was in the 3.GUR. Bülow was, however, the Kapellmeister of the Herzoglich Hoftheater in Braunschweig.
    4. He was a Bavarian, so there is probably more detailed information on his World War I service in the Bavarian personnel records on Ancestry.com. http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_01_2014/post-432-0-45875400-1389106724.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_01_2014/post-432-0-73037300-1389106755.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_01_2014/post-432-0-20568000-1389106772.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_01_2014/post-432-0-08214900-1389106796.jpg
    5. Are you talking about Curt Ziehm from the beginning of the thread? There was no double-counting for Wehrmacht Dienstauszeichnungen, and reserve officers didn't get them. But certain civil service in the Reichswehr/Werhmacht did count, as well as police service. Ziehm had 2 years, 9 months active service in World War I, was a Wehrmachtbeamter des höheren technischen Dienstes (Truppeningenieur m.d.W. einer Reg.-Baurat-Stelle beauftragt from 1.1.36 to 31.1.37, and a Reg.-Baurat from 1.2.37). His Beamter service was with Art.Regt. 39, Kraftf.Abt. 7, Kraftf.Abt. 10, and Pz.Jäg.Abt. 20.
    6. Sad thing is, I have one and couldn't remember what it was. Naval commando sounds right. Mine is the master version (star and wreath). Here it is mixed in with some other Israeli insignia:
    7. It is Israeli. A cmmando qualification, but I can't remember which one (Israel has a lot of different special operations units).
    8. Maximilian Hermann Moritz Ritter u., Edler v. Oetinger, *7. December 1875 in Erbach. Hptm.d.R., 1. Garde-Feldart.-Regt., Maj.d.R.a.D., died in Erbach on 28 July 1951.
    9. That's Theodor Larsen. I also added him in this thread where you had mentioned him: http://gmic.co.uk/index.php/topic/57037-goede-kampfwagenabzeichen/page-2#entry576356
    10. I changed the title to the thread, since I had broken my own rule that thread titles should say what the thread is about, instead of "hey! look at this"-type titles. And to add something to the thread:
    11. Talvisodan muistomitali Karjalan Kannas = Karelian Isthmus
    12. 2. luokan Vapaudenmitali. I assume silver medal to senior NCOs and bronze medal to junior NCOs and enlisted men, but I'm not sure of the exact breakdown.
    13. Heinrich XXVII, the reigning Prince of Reuss j.L. and regent of Reuss ä.L., was à la suite Saxon JB 13. 3 Also, Reuss ä.L. and the Reuss-Schleiz part of Reuss j.L. border Saxony. As an aside, here is a view at the current border on the road between Greiz and Reichenbach im Vogtland.
    14. Hi Gunnar In Roth, it says "b. St Flieg AOK Süd". No FR 36 Stammliste later than 1895 that I know of, so I can't find a DOB/POB. Dave
    15. v. dem, not v. der. Horst v. dem Knesebeck, *2.4.1895. An Oberst on 1.9.41, he spent all of World War II as Vorsitzender, Heeres-Remontierungskommission 1.
    16. Hi, There was an officer named Hans Herrmann who was in 1914 an Oberleutnant in II./Füs.-Rgt. Nr. 36 (19.8.00 Lt., 27.1.10 OLt., 19.8.14 Hptm.) and is shown in the Ehrenrangliste only as a Maj.a.D., no other wartime units listed Since he was from a battalion based in the Duchy of Anhalt, he would seem a shoe-in for the Friedrichkreuz. The Hptm. Hans Herrmann who shows up in the AK rolls is listed only as "Herrmann, Hans, Hauptmann, z.Zt. Führer d. Fliegerschule d. Fliegerersatzabteilung 1, Altenburg". This should be him, but does anyone have any confirmation that the Hptm. in FR 36 was the officer in the Fliegertruppe? There is also a KP Hptm. Herrmann, no first name given, in Roth's volume on Saxon awards. He received the SA3aX in 1916 as a Hptm. on the staff of the Stabsoffz.d.Fliegertr. AOK Süd. I suppose this might be him too. Thanks, Dave
