It was not uncommon in the interwar period for veterans to have private, unofficial bars produced. -
I'm not keen on the construction of this bar, or the Gefechtsspangen.

I agree, an image of the back and close-ups of the clasps on the colonial medal would help.

Sounds like a good deal to me, and you're right, that first bar could be something cobbled together.

I like the Nassau bar, that one is actually somewhat scarce. The big bar is interesting in that there is no long service award on it. The 1870 NK bar is nice. Your first NK bar is a bit weird and sloppy in the construction, not getting a good feeling about that one.

It's a good question. I have seen medal bars with multiple classes of the AO, so it appears that Rueckgabepflicht on these wasn't so rigorously overseen as, for example, the Prussians.

Scott, you'll need a War Aid Cross, those are cheap. The Cross of the AEZ is a lot more expensive, you're looking at about 100-125.00 for an award piece, and the AEZ will set you back about 50.00. Nice bar BTW.
