    1. Let us hope that this thread doesn't morph into something ugly, political, and jingoistic.
    2. Yes, it would be nice to hear. Though I must admit that my recent research requests have been moving on a geological time scale, it seems.
    3. Other than the very very incomplete information given by Antonio and Megan we know almost NOTHING. http://www.coleccionesmilitares.com/cintas/cintasaf.htm#a (go to "Africa 1" and look for Mozambique at the bottom of teh page) http://www.medals.org.uk/mozambique/mozambique.htm
    4. Thanks, Garen. I should have known that when I posted, later filled that mental blank, and never got around to updating the post. Thanks for jogging what is left of my memory.
    5. What an incredibly ugly thing. What is it made from? Lead? Mud? The real ones are silver and should be named on the edge.
    6. Thanks, Jeff. Many of these badges have had their precious bits popped out. Sad. I really wish we had a better reference on Chinese awards!
    7. As these were not routinely gazetted, numbers are imprecise. The best information from Abbot and Tamplin (the best source) is: DSO France - 678 Italy - 251 Belgium - 134 U.S.A. - 83 Greece - 43 Serbia - 38 Rumania - 29 Japan - 21 Portugal - 21 Czechoslovakia - 20 Arab Army - 6 China - 2 Montenegro - 1 Russia - 1 Slavo-British Aviation Corps - 1 MC France - 1423 (plus one bar) Italy - 575 U.S.A. - 320 (plus 4 bars) Belgium - 232 Romania - 69 Serbia - 68 (plus one bar) Greece - 65 Czechoslovakia - 60 Portugal - 37 Japan - 34 Arab Army - 12 Russia - 6 China - 3 Montenegro - 2 Slavo-British Aviation Corps - 1 Verdun - 1 Ypres - 1
    8. Thanks, Mike. Confirms my thoughts (on all levels ). Others?
    9. Thanks again in advance (not the best images either).
    10. The accompanying breast star.
    11. A close-up on the obverse.
    12. I have received images from a friend who is as ignorant as I am regarding Chinese orders. Sure, I have Wehrich and the OMSA database and Megan's and Yuri's sites and otrher sources, but they aren't complete. I (we) need help. He wants to know: 1- What are they? 2- Approximately how much are they worth? (As some of you know, I am VERY uncomfortable askinmg such questions, but I have been asked to ask and so I do.) The damage on some is extensive and troubling, I know. Thanks in advance.
    13. Legal problem? Maybe not. Ethical and moral problem? Those who put them up set limits on their availability. They made these things available on those conditions. Figure out if this constitites a "problem". If you scanned this book yourself, Paul may have a point, but if you are stealing the labor of others . . . oh, why do I bother, no one cares about ethics or morality or intellectual rights anymore. Those who put it up, must (should) have expected someone to ignore their expressed wishes and steal this material. Pirates are everywhere.
    14. Thanks, Bob. You have demonstrated, beyond any doubt, the completely random overlapping of these two types. (And, of course, added a new low number for the flatback type.)
    15. Nice ones! A shame the ribbon bar and, presumably, documents were split up, but still nice.
    16. 2- Rastakhiz Medal For those supporting the 1953 counter-coup that reinstalled the shah? Though there is also he National Uprising (28th Amordad) Medal, 1953 (Medal-e-Ghiam-e-Melli)??? We know so little!
