    1. nice! very difficult to find. my all-time favourite type is the variant with the k.m.s.t. clasp. still haven't been able to acquire one.
    2. do my eyes deceive me or does that gorget have a large gem affixed to it's center?
    3. perhaps the pin has been replaced at some point. barrel hinge/pin don't seem to have the tightest of fits...kind of loose, actually.

    5. this appears to be an early piece of patriotic or "sweetheart" jewelry. very nice design--enough so that the manufacturers actually deigned to patent it.
    6. ...either that is a very nice prinzen-sized ek2, or the gentleman in question was a pituary giant. nice photo!
    7. i like the way the flag is defying gravity! i wonder how much laundry starch they used...
    8. this is off topic, but what award is the third individual from the left wearing on the right side of his tunic?
    9. looks like a luxus-version of a bugstern to me--i may have posted one in the freikorps forum.
    10. thank you, hardy! no wonder i couldn't find it. any idea which era/province it's from? i thought the austrian medals had yellow ribbons.
    11. no hallmark. i am unfamiliar with these. can anyone elaborate on them?
    12. here's a very well made 40-year award. large size. note the dumbell style pin attachment
    13. pin system is generally attributed to the firm of peltz & lorenz
    14. and i really like this pic. check out the glowering "heavy" scowling at the camera lens; i wonder where he ended up? all in all it's a great juxtaposition of poses that reflects the times.
    15. looks like hermann g. had one--photo is circa 1928 and courtesy of wikipedia
    16. yes, i'm aware of this fact, brother rick. i was merely curious about the maybauer piece that joe has posted.
    17. is the 25-year vet's honor pinback cross to the left of the medal bar hallmarked to "r. conrad weimar"?
    18. thanks all; i suppose i should clarify my original question: has anyone seen a 1939 version measuring 30mm? this example looks very similar to a type 1 style.
    19. reverse setup looks like typical S&L from the 30s. anyone have a catalog? did they market these (or the '14 version) in this size?
