    1. am adding these two because they have different pin systems than the ones already shown
    2. looks as if there is an imperial item at 10 o'clock. i'm suuuure that one's gonna look super real. especially the crown. btw, whoever produces that item and lists it on ebay, etc. has my permission to list it as 'super real'. best use for these molds is, IMHO, to attach 'em to lundstrom's scanner as wheels...
    3. Well, I initially thought it could be from one of the Italian states as well, so I went through Modena, Parma, Savoy, Sicily, and Tuscany in Werlich's book. And found nothing. Then I looked at Dorling's ribbon chart and the closest match was for the Order of the Star of Italian Solidarity. But the timeline is off, I think. Since it was nestled next to the last medal on the bar, and the ribbon is very similar to certain Bulgarian order ribbons, I naturally went in that direction.
    4. here are a few more--all pretty much the same. gold foil cross on lid. each ek is from a different maker.
    5. Simply amazing! Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge and your examples.
    6. nice looking cross: p.s. i almost forgot to mention that the core looks to be 'bruniert'
    7. the owner opted to fix it himself. the planchet is thick and heavy.
    8. hi jens, i would look towards bulgaria--based on the ribbon. perhaps forum member 'redcross' can be of real help to you. good luck!
    9. btw, i'm rather shocked and dismayed that this thread has been up for over 24 hrs. and no one has bothered to point out that i should have referred to this item as a BrK1. heh!
    10. Almost looks like the lid to a tiny box of chocolates (try the Stulpnagel, it's yummy --it's fulla kirschwasser! nahhh, i like the Bismarck--it has a hazelnut filling!) Nice thingy, whatever it is!
    11. doh! you are right don. i passed on one of those spanish crosses once because i didn't know enough about them and didn't want to risk it. the seller also didn't know what he had and was offering it at a very reasonable price. a few months later i saw a thread about this type.... ok, i guess the next step would be to verify if Petz & Lorenz (Unterreichenbach) actually sold these crosses. does anyone know of a forum member who specializes in catalogs or has a catalog/reprint of this firm from the late 30's? also, did anything happen in braunschweig during the late 30s that would have caused a commemorative piece to be struck? an event such as a funeral, 20-year anniversary, etc? any theories out there? p.s. rick r: i looked very closely at the finish, and it doesn't look to be stripped. the existing finish is actually coming off of one of the cross arm tips, showing a darker base metal. bronze or copper-ish. thank you, guys!
