Luftwaffe Unidentified WW2 Luftwaffe Signatures
hucks216 replied to hucks216's topic in Germany: All Eras: Signature Database
I'm having a problem identifying this signature for the Staffelkapitän of 5./JG-52. In Prien's Jagdfliegerverbände series the Staka for this period is listed as Oberleutnant August-Wilhelm Schumann (followed by Oberleutnant Siegfried Simsch from September 1941) but I can not see 'Schumann' in that signature. -

That does fit the appointments but that signature looks very different from the Hermann Busch signatures I have in a KG-40 grouping when he held the position of Fliegerführer Nord (West). See the citations here (the first three seen)... KG-40 -

Is there a unit mentioned under the airman's name? The Feldpost Number is unreadable in the stamp. -
Three signatures on a Führerschein. The first one is for a Hauptmann(E) in Pz.Abwehr-Abt 5 and dated for 1938... The second is for an Oberstleutnant in command of Panzerjäger-Abt 125 (125 ID) and is dated for March 1941... The third and final one is for a Major in command of Reserve-Panzerjäger-Abteilung 5 and is dated for August 1943...

Heer Some portraits
hucks216 replied to Jock Auld's topic in Germany: Third Reich: Research, Documentation & Photographs
Nice selection. That panzer soldier sitting with his mum (I presume) looks familiar but I can't place where I have seen him in a different photo before. -
Can anyone confirm who this signature belongs to please? The listing for 3rd January 1939 states an Oberst (E) Röhrssen as Kommandeur of WBK Deutsche Krone but not sure if he would still be in charge in September 1942. I can kind of see some of that name in the signature but also parts that I can't!

Probably not much chance as a positive ID of this signature due to the low rank and being in the training & replacement units of GD, but what do others think the first few letters are? I think the first letter could be an S, but it could also be a H or J with the following letters having the chance of being c, e or a.

Waffen SS Stab II. SS TIR 2
hucks216 replied to Jock Auld's topic in Germany: Third Reich: Research, Documentation & Photographs
I've had a look through the command positions for II/SS-TIR 2 and can't se any name that would fit that signature. It might just be one of the soldiers who is sending a photo home to the family. At around this time the II Btl commander was SS-Hstuf Karl Kummer followed by SS-Hstuf Max Dallinger. -

Nice photo for the Stab of II/SS-TIR 2. Not sure how possible it would be to identify the signature though. -
