    1. Don't go too far away, Ed. There is still much to learn and much to share. Best regards Jan
    2. It never ceases to amaze me that this sort of documents even still exists. Wonderful, thank ou for showing Jan
    3. Lovely cross indeed Veteran. Jan
    4. Hi Garth, It has nothing watsoever to do with the french palms. This is not an official award. It is a membership medal for one the veteran associations for military personnel that was stationned in occupied Germany. Jan
    5. Does anyone have any info on a Belgian armoured that was captured on the Russian front and later used by Freikorps? I already know they nicknamed the car "Raudi" Thanks jan
    6. How can a government forbid to wear badges it has given itself in the first place ????
    7. For Mitterand the footnote is VERY important: "Pierre P?an, op. cit., p. 292-295.
    8. As already touched upon earlier in this thread, the price rises have been less spectacular when calculated in Euros. Elsewhere on this forum someone also indicated that the market was a euromarket rather than a dollarmarket. And now that the dollar is gaining on the euro, prices seem on the low side, though are consistant when calculated in Euros. My 2 tugruks Jan
    9. I'm not so sure ther will be a price explosion from research, seeing almost 95% or more are "just" long service awards. For most collectors here on the forum, that doesn't change anything but for most other collectors there needs to be some blood leaking out of the citation, before they will dive into their wallets. My two tugruks Jan
    10. At those prices I think we all just hit the jackpot Jan
    11. Great group there Igor. As mentioned in the accompanying letter, that probably is a unique doc. I've never seen another one, and believe me I've been looking.... Originally, these medals were not destined to be worn, but many soldiers attached some sort of suspension device and added it to their medal groups. Best regards Jan
    12. These are merely manufacturers frivolities. I believe the medals with the "II" were made in the Heremans workshop and the ones marked "I" were made by Wolfers. Though maybe someone more knowledgeable made correct me on this or be more precize. Jan
    13. A real pleasure to start my day browsing through these posts. Thanks Ed Jan
    14. I have a named bronze star to a Belgian, that was given to him for "meritious service in connection with military operations against the ennemy as senior Belgian Liaison Officer serving with the US First Army Civil Affairs Division". Not sure this helps, but there you go =o) Jan
    15. :speechless1: Ed, I can help you with those, just send them over, I have a few empty drawers that would suit these beauties just fine Best regards Jan
    16. Hi L4H Anywhere between 100 and 150 euros would be reasonable. Try to check at the national archives first, to make sure it's a Belgian Agent medal and not one to a Belgian member of the Merchant Marine. Jan
    17. You shouldn't be, you recognize ALL the others, I only know that one ;)
    18. Second from the left Mongolian 30th Anniv Victory over Japan Medal
    19. Here's what I have on the accompanying document: HQ 1st Army, Fort Bragg, N.C. 20. Thanks you very much for your reply, that is very helpful. I can give you 1 name with citation: Capitaine commandant J.G. de Buyl, belgian army.: "For meritorious service in connection with military operations against the ennemy as senior Belgian Liaison Officer serving with the G-5 section, HQ 1st US Army, from 26 December 1944 to 10 May 1945, in Belgium and Germany." (awarded on 25 October 1945) Best regards Jan
    21. Hi guys, I just found a named bronze star awarded to a belgian liaison officier in 1945. Does anyone have any idea how many Bronze Stars were given to Belgians in WWII? How many were given to other foreigners? Thanks Jan
    22. Oooh, lovely docs Ed, thanks for posting. It's amazing how many different documents they have in Mongolia. Makes you wonder how many we haven't seen yet? Let me dig out some of my previously unposted ones, just to keep this great thread moving. Best regards Jan
    23. Great pics Ed! I hope you didn't have to pay too much for those. When I was there they asked about 1 USD per picture I wanted to take. Which I refused, of course. Wish I was there... Jan
