    1. Thanks a lot. My Hungarian is less than it should be, but I've written to the seller - lets see if I get lucky. Kind regards, Sandro

    4. To my knowledge, the star denotes use of non-precious metals (i.e., or generally, bronze) and is (generally seen as) indicative of wartime manufacture. Regards, Sandro
    5. Dear Forumites, Can someone please help me by providing me with the awards list at the end of WWI of Otto von Marchtaler, Württemberg's minister of war throughout WW I? Many thanks and best wishes, Sandro
    6. What alternative point of view? These collar tabs are (i) WWII vintage and (ii) shown in the right direction - assuming the collar is pointing down, this is how they should be mounted.
    7. Östa, I'm looking at it, but what specifically, are your drawing our attention to, please? To be clear - the picture that started this thread shows Kronprinz Rupprecht von Bayern with several bavarian generals during a postwar gathering. Most generals wear Bavarian style generals tunics with the prussian style collar tabs (Altlarisch) adopted by Bavaria in 1916 (if memory serves). The general I have singled out in the second picture wears a Litewka with what appears to be a Bavarian Borte in front of the collar tabs, and has the collar tabs mounted the wrong way around. I scanned the link you sent me, but see nothing that addresses (i) Bavarian uniforms and (ii) the mounting of the collar tabs in the manner done by the general shown in the second pic.
    8. Likey, it would be dismissed as a fabrication, which in part is why I (bought and) posted the pic ....
    9. And how could the general miss it when putting on the litewka .....? Es gibt nichts das es nicht gegeben hat .....
    10. I thought that would be obvious from the comparison of the gentleman in the enlargement with the other gents in the pic, but perhaps I'm wrong. Check out the collar tabs....
    11. You should think that being surrounded by other general's, he might notice that either all of his colleagues have gotten it wrong or .......
    12. One should think that general offices would know the regulations ........ or perhaps Herr Generalleutnant is making a fashion statement? Best wishes, Sandro
    13. Thanks Ian, very helpful, I'll check it out right away. Best regards, Sandro
    14. Thanks a lot Ian, this is extremely helpful. I'm a bit miffed that I could not (even) find Eimannsberger in the 1918 Rangliste - any chance you could give me the page number, so I can see how I missed him? Best wishes, Sandro
    15. Pavel, I just stumbled upon this most informative thread. Is this the book you wrote and refer to here, and of which you reproduced some of the pages here? Is it still available? Kind regards, Sandro http://www.militaria.at/Book.aspx?book=8857800&Language=en
    16. Can someone please help me completing the awards lists for - KuK Generalmajor Richard Mayer (the 1913 Schematismus lists the following awards for him, but based on the loops on his tunic, he must have received at least one breaststar): EKOR3, MVK, Kriegsmedaille, Militärverdienstziechen für Offiziere 3. Klasse, bronzene Jubiläumserinnerungsmedaille für die bewaffnete Macht, Militär Jubileumskreuz); - General der Artillerie (post 1918 - Oberst in 1918) Ludwig Ritter von Eimannsberger (see enclosed pic, found on the internet - again, loops on his tunic indicate the award of at least one breaststar or an EK I) - Generalmajor Karl Heiler (20.1.1849 - 15.8.1926) Many thanks in advance for your help. Best regards, Sandro
    17. Hello Enzo, Any chance you could help me with the request on the MMTO I sent you, please? Many thanks and kind regards, Sandro

    18. i'm truly saddened by this news. I never met Rick personally, but in my years of collecting never encountered anyone who shared his vast knowledge and thoughtful insights so freely with so many. Rick will be missed.
    19. Thank you Elwyn, that is a very nice pic. Kind regards, Sandro
    20. Yes please, that would be great. I'll send you a PM with my email address. Many thanks, Sandro
    21. Many thanks, Gents, much appreciated. Freiherr, should you decide to part with that pic then please let me know, small as it is I'll happily buy it from you. Cheers, Sandro
    22. Wow ..... You've got to hand it to the German's (of whatever state), they are thorough administrators. Even if you would think that by 1917, they'd have other things to worry about. Anyway, it looks like I'll need to update my library with a copy of the 1918 seniority list. Thanks Dave, this has been really valuable input. Personally, I doubt von Castell-Castell, who served as a Flügeladjutant to the King of Bavaria throughout the war, received an EKI - diplomatic awards, yes, plenty, as is evidenced by the list above. But I'm not sure why a foreign state (Prussia) would grace him with what at the time was seen as a fairly high award for personal bravery. Anyway, I stand to be corrected. Regards, Sandro
    23. Thanks Dave, I stand corrected on the first, and must have missed the second. Any sign von Castell-Castell was awarded an EK 1, as Charles has suggested?
    24. Charles, The Militaerhandbuch 1916 merely lists an EK 2. On what basis do you believe von Castell - Castell received an EK 1? Sandro
    25. Many thanks Dave, that explains why he wasn't reactivated during WW I. Regards, Sandro
