    1. Working in tandem a nd part of it are differences. Sturm-Btl.1 and Gesch.Bttr.2. Does that fit? Gesch.Bttr.2 was bavarian Those Inf.Gesch-Bttr. normally stood under command of an army-commando. The were other Inf.Gesch.Bttr., attached to the "Sturm-Bataillon of the 5th army": Inf.Gesch.Bttr.3 (27.7.16-10.8.16) Inf.Gesch.Bttr.6 (25.8.16-11.9.16) Inf.Gesch.Bttr.9 (10.9.16-24.9.16) and attached to Sturm-Btl.14 (11.1.17-23.1.17) Inf.Gesch.Btl.10 (23.12.16-11.1.17) The Inf.Gesch.Bttr.8 was attached to Sturm-Btl.6 (9.3.16) So, of course a lot of the Sturm-Bataillone attacked with guns, but mostly they belonged to the AOK, not to the bataillon
    2. No, only the 5th btl. Here are the compositions: SB1: Staff, 3 storm-comp., 1 MG-comp and 1 MW-comp. SB2: Staff, 4 storm-comp., 1 MG-comp., 1 MW-comp. SB3: Staff, 4 storm-comp., 1 MG-comp., 1 MW-comp, 1 flame-thrower det., Inf.Gesch.Bttr.3 SB4: Staff, 2 storm-comp., 1 MG-comp., 1 MW-comp. SB5: Staff, 4 storm-comp (+ 1 park-comp.), 2 MG-.comp., 1 MW-comp., 1 flame-thrower det., 1 Gesch-Bttr. SB6: Staff, 2 storm-comp., 1 MG-comp., 1 MW-comp. SB7: Staff, 2 storm-comp., 1 MG-comp., 1 MW-comp. SB8: Staff, 2 storm-comp., 1 MG-comp., 1 MW-comp. SB9: Staff, 2 storm-comp., 1 light MG-Det., 1 MW-comp. SB10: Staff, 2 storm-comp., 1 MG-.comp., 1 MW-comp. SB11: Staff, 2 storm-comp., 1 MG-comp., 1 MW-comp. SB12: Staff, 3 storm-comp., 1 MG-comp., 1 MW-comp. SK13: Staff, 1 storm-comp., 1 MG-Det., 1 MW-Det. SB14: Staff, 2 storm-comp., 1 MG-comp., 1 MW-comp. SB15: Staff, 2 storm-comp., 1 MG-comp., 1 MW-comp. SB16: Staff, 4 storm-comp., 1 MG-comp., 1 MW-comp Note: The Inf-Gesch.Bttr.3 was an independent unit, detached to the storm-bataillon, while the Gesch-Bttr. of the 5th belonged to them
    3. Manonviller has an own chapter in the book: 42cm - Zwei Kriegsjahre einer 42cm Batterie (written by Major a.D. F. Solf (leader Kurze-Marine-Kanonen-Batterie N°6)
    4. No stress, I´ve seeen, you were off for a couple of weeks (months, years, decades...) Glad to seee you back!
    5. Hello Lambert! Great photos and a great collection!!!!!!! Thanx a lot for showing!!!
    6. Hello! Thanks a lot for the photos! M<y friend told me something abozt that unit. He his a Brazilian, and just right now here in Europe for holidays. We had a couple of drinks last week...
    7. Hello Schiaßplatzmeister! Thank you very much for your help! I agree with the date of the photo.Unfortunately I can´t tecognize the ranks. It´s staff officer. The bavarian ranklist of 1918 shows the following staff-officer for the 2nd Chev.Rgt.: Major Kurt Freiherr v. Lepel Medals: Militär-Verdienst-Orden 4.Kl. with swords He left the army as Lt.Col. Maybe that´s a match?
    8. Hello! A friend of mine gave me this nice brazilian badge! Here is the unit: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brazilian_Expeditionary_Force
    9. Hello! I don´t think, it´s "Befehlsstelle". To me it´s a roman numeral too. Probably a Luftwaffen unit of the X.Army corps or these guys served with the staff of Gruppenführer der Flieger Nr. 10 (set-up 1917) or Gruppenführer der Jagdstaffel 10 (set-up 1918) These both are amazing photos! Congratulations to the find!!!!!
    10. Hello Rittmeister! No, tghey used larger ones to hide the number. To me it´s a braid (Litze), for a command, school or anything else. Another possibility could be a bataillon-colour. Some troops wore those coloured braids in battle
    11. Hi Chris! A very interesting photo! Could you make a close-up from the turkish collar-badges, please?
    12. Hello! There was a another general, I´d pay the highest respect for his military career. He wore four german uniforms! Hans Speidel: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hans_Speidel
    13. That only means, that you made a handstand to recognize the upside-down-company-button...
    14. Chip! You´re right with the 6. I didn´t recognize the Punkt. You might be a master in handstands... So we can finish... Bavarian Pi.Rgt.4 (constisted of two bataillons), 6th company. Thanx a lot! One beer for you, matey!
    15. I´m not sure, if there is a 4. It´s hard to see. Probably the "thing", looks like a 4, is just a crease, or a hand-written 4. Another detail is the 9 upon the button! Kraus says: The bavarian Pio.Rgt.4 wore the 4 upon the shoulder-straps (KM from 24.11.1915), because it consists of companies of the 4th bavarian Pi.Btl. Maybe this one wrote it on it, befor ehte shoulder-straps with a 4 were introduced... But the 9 puzzles me. Kraus writes about bavarian minesweeper-companies 1-9 Other sources don´t mention a N°9. (only 1-6, 10-12, 14-16 and upper numbers).
    16. Here are some coloured examples: (source: "Die grauen Felduniformen der Deutschen Armee", reprint 83/84)
    17. Hi Jim! Generally the regiment was under command of: 2.8.14-4.3.15: 29.Inf.Div. 1914: Burgundy porte, Sennheim-Mülhausen, Lorraine, Nancy-Épinal, Maas and Mosel, Arras, Flandres and Artois, Lille, French-Flandres, Flandres and Artois, Cuinchy 1915: Loretto, Auchy lez-La Bassée, Loretto 8.3.15-21.1.19: 52.Inf.Div. 1915: Bapaume, Serre 1916: Somme 1917: Alsace, Aisne, Chemin des Dames, Chavignon, Ailette, Champagne 1918: Montdidier-Noyon, Avre, Soissons and Reims, Chemin des Dames, French-Flandres and Artois, Ypres-La Bassée, Monchy-Bapaume, Thilloy, Champagne, Argonnes and Maas, Aire and Maas, Is that ok for you so far, or do you need more detailed infos?
    18. That sounds great, Joe! I will have look around, if I´ll find something you need, I´ll let you know, mate!
    19. Hi Joe! Unfortunately I don´t know any maps about that. A complete hisrtory of formation about german aviation is hard to find. The only sources are the order of battles of 1914, so you can say, the aviations might be close to the HQ. I´d be interested in your request too! Best regards
