    1. Hello guys! There were only two Ulanen-Regiments with yellow pipings. 3.Garde-Ul.Rgt., Ul.Rgt.11 and 15 We don´t have Garde here. Both also had yellow pipings at the shoulder boards. Ul.Rgt.1 (Kaiser Alexander II) had red pipings on the tunic and white pipings at the shoulder boards. Strange to me the numbers inside of the tunic. We might know the name of the man to get on. The colour of the buttons were: Ul.Rgt.1: Tombac Ul.Rgt.11: Tombac Ul.Rgt.15: Nickel
    2. Hello Jens! I´ve seen that jacket before. I think it´s one of the Drillichjackets, Kraus describes in vol.I, pages 235-236. There are different Drillichs mentioned, so I think, it´sone of them with a "self sewed-on pocket". Was it ususal to waer an EKII on a Drillich?
    3. Hello! Those beret-badges were introduced in 1969, when the Jäger recieved the green beret, the paras (Luftlandetruppe = Fernmelder and Parachutists) a bordeaux-red one, and the tank-troops a black one. The national-flag came out in 1979. Here is the ZDv 37/10 with a supplementation from 2014 ZDv 37-10.pdf ZDv 37-10 Ergänzung 2014.pdf
    4. A great patch, Chip!!!!!!! Brilliant!!!! S.M.W.22, at 25.6.16 it took part of the saxon MW-Komp.123 (123.Inf.Div.) The shoulder boards are phantastic too!!!!!
    5. Hello Jock! Notable is the unit "II.Ers.Abt./Feldart.Rgt.69/70" Set-up 19.3.1915 in Minden by Stellv.Gen.Kdo. XVI.AK! I haven´t seen such a stamp before!
    6. Hi Chip! Thanx for your comments! Of course, it´s trench mortar. I wrote it at 4am, justz before work, I wasn´t woke-up enough.... Do you have originally patches?
    7. Here are some photos showing unusual arm-patches: 1-4) F (Fernmeldezug = telegraphs) 5) Feldflieger-Abtl 67 (Aviation-detachement 67) 6) Infanterie-Nachrichten-Abteilung 7) Handgrenade thrower 8) Scheinwerferzug (seachlight-section 12) 9) Traditional patch Ulanen-Rgt.15 10) MG gunner
    8. Some german Minesweepers had their own arm-patches. They were not official. There were light, middle and heavy minesweepers-sections. 1) probably a heavy minesweeper. Number unreadable, maybe 36 2) bavarian Minenwerfer-Abteilung 3) Leichter Minenwerfer Zug 299 (probably 299)
    9. Thanx Chip! That is the problem. Probably you don´t have that term in the US army. Would you translate it in the same way?
    10. Now it works matey! Before I did recieve this one: By the way: A nice collection and a good idea! That really saves space!
    11. Note the promotion from 17.4.1918. "Wegen Tapferkeit vor dem Feinde zum etatmäßigen Unteroffizier befördert" Because of braverey in front of the enemy, promoted to "budgetary NOC" How do I translate "etatmäßig" correctly?: "budgetary" or "on the establishment"? His injuries: 9.6.18: südwestl. Rollot verwundet A.G. rechte Wange (southwest of Rollot wounded at the right cheek by artillerie-shell). Rollot is near Montdidier (Somme, Picardie); A.G. means "Artillerie-Geschoß" (shell) 3.10.18: verwundet linker Arm und rechtes Bein (wounded left arm and right leg)
    12. No. He was sent into field in summer 1916. Douaumont was before. Here are his battles. He has seen a lot...
    13. Ah, sorry Chris! He joined the army in Inf.Rgt.24 (Rekruten-Deppot) and came later in Inf.Rgt.52
    14. Hello! I found a Hauptmann Elster AND a Stabsarzt Dr. Bingler in Inf.Rgt.79 (source: Ehrenrangliste) The Madine-Lager seemed to be somewhere in Lorraine: http://www.cartespostalesdelorraine.com/bouillonville-54470-le-viaduc-de-madine-madine-lager-t2728.html The 20th Division was in Cambrai these days, but it came to the Woevre sector in april 1918. A soldier of the Landwehr-Fußartillerie-Bataillon 30 died in the Madine-Lager http://denkmalprojekt.org/verlustlisten/vl_lothr_fusart-reg_16_wk1_lw_fuss_art_batt_30.htm That bataillon belonged to Armee-Abt. C (26.8.16-11.9.18 Trench battles between Maas and Mosel - later Woevre sector too) there was not a great distance between Maas, Mosel and Bouillonville (1) and the Lake Madine Maybe that helps a little bit...

    17. Alfred Körbs was a member of the MG-Lehr-Kompanie/Feldrekruten-Depot 21.Res.Div.. He was instructed in: german MG french MG 07 brit. Vickers and Lewis MG
    18. Hello Chip! I think it´s nothing special, but the listings of the Souville battle. First he was in 117, then in R81 and later in 1918 in R88. Probably it´ll arrive on wednesday or thursday
