    1. Hello IG! Thank you very much for your help! I hope, I´ll get some infs of a book I ordered this morning. It´s called "Waffengedenkbuch der königlich bayerischen schweren Artillerie" It´s a more then 400 pages book with infors only about the bavarian heavy artillery history of formation! I didn´t know that book before! But back to the photo. It´s possible, that this man is yet an infantrist. Maybe he wears the old tunic, but almost with the new shoulder straps with the white piping fort infantry. So we would have bav.5th IR, or Res.Rgt. Anyway, I couldn´t find a missing link to the bav.8th RD or the Edelweiß, even he´d be an infantrist. I hope the book will arrive very soon!
    2. Yes, Great! The Ypres-Triple is very interesting
    3. Hello! Does someone have informations about a Untersturmführer Kurt Hoppe? Probably 3.SS.Pz.Div (Totenkopf) Thank you very much in advance!
    4. Yes, the short history was: b.5th Foot-artillery-bataillon set up march 1916 This bataillon became I.Btl. of the new set-up b.5th.Foot-artilleriy regiment. You wrote about the 5th field-artillery regiment, that belonged to the 3rd Bav.Div., that´ s right.# I need infos about the 5th bataillon from 1916-1918 (before it became part of the 5th regiment
    5. Hello! No, you are wrong. FA means Field-artillery. The 5th foot-artillery regiment was set up in may 1918
    6. Hello gentlemen! Does someone have informations about the battles and assignments to higher commands of the bavarian 5th foot-artillery-bataillon from its set-up in march 1916 until may 1918 (then it became I.Btl./bav.5th foot-artillery-regiment)? I try to find out, where this man was, and in which units he did recieve the badges of the Alpine-corps and the bav.8th Res.Div. The reverse is unwritten, but "Alois Walter" (I´m not sure, if that is the name of that man) To his uniform: Brandenbug cuffs + Shoulder stripe "5" with white pipings + Bavarian collar galloon = bavarian 5th foot-artillery (bataillon OR regiment) Since 1916 the foot-artillery bataillons had their own shoulder strap-number and not any-more the number of the upsetting regiment. Thanks a lot in advance!
    7. No, I´ve got this pair only. I hope, there are many others!
    8. Yes, that´s right, Marcin! All the important people on one photo. I love pictures like this!

    10. Hi Chris! It´s a regular drivers leather uniform. The were also collar-badges with a motor-bike
    11. Guards division? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guards_Division_%28United_Kingdom%29
    12. Well, the "Großherzogin Elisbeth" was not a military ship. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duchesse_Anne The owner was the Deutscher Schulschiff-Verein
    13. Hello! I don´t think, it´s a military button. DSV could stand for Deutscher Schiffahrtsverein or Deutscher Segelverein
    14. Hi Chris! I don´t know the book... I´m stil waiting. It´s called: Das Generalgouvernement Belgien, Zwei jahre deutscher Arbeit, L. Volkmann, 1917
    15. I don´t know exactly, but by chance I just wait for a book about the Generalgouvernment Belgien. It should arrive until saturday. Maybe I can find something in it. H ewears a o7/10 tunic, so he wears the grey shoulder straps. That´s ok. The red ones came later witht he 15 Bluse Well, I have to leave right now, off to work with me...
    16. Hello! I also have a photo of that "hidden" shoulder strap. Note you are wrong with the 3. I read 13 (Nr.13) That makes sense, because there was the "Luftschiffer-Bataillon Brüssel" (consisted of Luftschiff-Trupps 13 and 15) So the stamp means MAYBE : Feldtrupp der Luftschiffe Nr.13 The bataillon was dissolved in 1917. It was under command of the O.H.L. Because of the Faustriemen, he belonged to the mounted artillerists. Normally he had to blacken his white leather...
    17. Thanx Chris! I see different infos about the shooing process. Ranges etc. Funny the word "Ziel-Laus"! (Target-louse). Steenstraet indicates the pic in Flandres. Do you know the unit and the date?
    18. Hello Dante! Very nice MP! Is Noskes signature original? This Lt.d.Res. Pieper served with the Garde-Gren.Rgt.Nr.1 (Alexander). After armistice, he probably joined the Freiwilligen-Bataillon Garde Gren.Rgt.1. This volunteer-bataillon was part of the Freiwilligen 3.Garde-Inf.Brig. (Freiw.2.Garde-Inf.Div.) In june 1919 they became the Reichswehr-Brigade 26 Fürstenwalde. The bataillon became I.Btl./Reichswehr-Inf.Rgt.51 and stayed in Fürstenwalde The regiment was active only until october 1919. Then the I.Btl./RW-Inf.Rgt.51 became I.Btl.Fürstenwalde/Reichswehr-Inf.Rgt.30 Cottbus (Reichswehr-Inf.Brig. 15 Berlin) End of july 1920 the bataillon became II.Btl. Berlin/Rw-Inf.Rgt.29 Berlin In october 1920 the brigade 3, brigade 15 and brigade 6 formed the 3.Division of the so-called 100.000 men army and the II.Btl./29 became part of the 9.(preuß.) Inf.Rgt. in Potsdam. In 1921 53 officers went to the Inf.Rgt.3, 5, 8 and 9 Unfortunately the Rangliste of october 1920 doesn´t show an officer named Pieper, so I assume, he left the army not later than summer 1920
