    1. The Oldenburg's are a combatant AND non-combatant ribbon. First time I have ever seen that!
    2. Rick Ask and ye shall receive. Here is a link to that other forum with a two place bar currently for sale. http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/forums/sho...ad.php?t=153799 Regards, Mark
    3. Landsknechte Many thanks for posting this photo! Do you have any idea of the years of service required to earn each level of award? Do you believe that the Imperial or TR version is more commonly found? Any idea of the total numbers of these issued? Regards, Mark
    4. landsknechte Thank you for posting the photo of the Imperial version. Any chance you might be able to post a photo of the gold award? Thanks to all for your help on this, Mark
    5. Paul Very nice collection! Were any of these in that latest score you were waiting on? Mark
    6. Rick/Don Thank you for the information. Would this be basically the same as the Faithful Service cross issued during the TR? I assume from the swaz at the bottom that this would have been a post 34 award. Were these issued both before and during the TR? Regards, Mark
    7. Claudio Thank you for the photo. Does it give a date that the photo was taken? Otherwise that might be a pre-war photo. Please understand that I do not doubt the authenticity of your medal bar. To the contrary - if I had the funds available your bar would have been sold weeks agao What I am trying to understand is whether it is feasible for an officer to be recalled to active duty, earn 2 combatant awards but not be eligable to have any of his peacetime awards be upgraded with swords? At the least I would think he would have been eligable to upgrade his Friedrichs Cross. Mark
    8. Daniel Ken is leaving sometime Monday the 17th for a two week buying trip in Germany. If you are going to contact him do it tonight before he leaves. Mark
    9. Rick Can you explain the logic behind these combination of awards? Here is an officer who did some extensive service time. He participated in the 1870 F/P war, but from the medal bar not enough to earn an 1870 EK2. Somewhere between 1870 and 1914 he earns a MVO, a WK, and a WF3b, 25 yr LS and 1897 Centennial. I assume he would have retired for a period between 1897 and 1914. During the 1914 conflict he is recalled and adds the 1914 EK2 and WKrz, but whatever he did does not warrant the addition of swords to any of his other awards. Shouldn't the award of the EK have at least added the swords to his WF3b? The HK would date the assembly of this bar to sometime after 1934 - 64 years after he entered service putting him in his early to mid eighties. I would assume that this would allow enough time for any late awards to catch up to him. Thanks, Mark
    10. Claudio Very nice medal bar! It would indeed be very hard to replace.... Unless, he has something to replace it with already????? Mark
    11. Rick Very beautiful sword! The damascus pattern is not true small rosebud, but a modified small rosebud. True rosebud would have been covered from stem to stern in the little buds and not had all the waves in between. Good luck in researching the family crest. I tried several years ago to do that with a named, matched TR dagger and sword. I discovered that family crests are only pasted from father to eldest son - all other heirs must slightly change the sheild pattern before they can use it. If you can find a book on registered family crests though you might be able to narrow it down to a family but after that it would be all speculation. Mark
    12. I started this thread with photos in the Imperial section. http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=7523 Is anyone familiar with these Bavarian Industrial Awards? Any info on them would be appreciated. Thanks, Mark
    13. I always like the KD89's. I personally feel they are under valued for what they are. Here is a 17th Hussars that I owned for a period. [attachmentid=34993] [attachmentid=34994]
    14. A solo RK2x in parade mount. The three o'clock arm is stamped Scharffenberg, the six o'clock arm is stamped S, and the nine o'clock arm is stamped Dresden. [attachmentid=34992]
    15. Thanks for the compliments. This is what I spend my spare time doing when I am not spending all my money at Ricks! Here is a teaser of the Panzer. As I mentioned the acc's for the tank were mailed sperately and are sitting somewhere in Customs. I guess they can not be too careful about what just might be inside those little ammo crates! 21. I decided to take a break from my other ranges of figures and take a stab at some 28mm WW2 Germans. I tried doing a couple of Fallschirmjagers and Panzerzerstruppes. Now, if I could just get the darned camera to do some decent closeups....... I also did a Panzer IVd to go with these but the kind folks at US Customs have been detaining the 1/2 of the order that contained it. Hopefully it will arrive this week and I will be able to add photos of it. [attachmentid=34963]
    22. I stumbled upon this Bavarian Other Ranks medal bar and I am curious about the Industrial Award on it. From the swaz I gather it is TR and not Imperial era. The award is stamped 990 for silver content. Any ideas of what this civil award would have been given for? [attachmentid=34955] [attachmentid=34957]
