    1. Just received a documented medal. With text on reverse and vertical pin. Showing the document here. Translation: "Distinguished himself for a speedy and responsible service towards the people, and for a good quality work". In other words... not very specific. Also not clear if a "leather"-like document is missing or not.
    2. www.shopbulgaria.com Excellent dealer.

    4. To put things in perspective, the first post in this thread refers to a group offered for sale to me at more than 10.000 USD. The group was not just not owned by the seller, but also not by the person he represented... as the group was in fact owned by somebody here on GMIC who I don't suspect will be selling it anytime soon. Offering a 10K+ group for sale while not owning it nor holding it raises serious concerns in my book.
    5. And here the small pin version - difficult to read the makers mark on reverse
    6. wow - 4 different ones!
    7. Thanks Jan - a section I don't look at that much. Note, to avoid confusion, the scan I posted is not the actual size of the badge. No other info known by me about badge.
    8. Interesting, wondering whether this is just a "first installment" of further such books or whether this is it. And if the latter, apparently the somewhat under-appreciated Title of Merit may be considered of much more significance in Mongolia than we thought? http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=5056&hl=merit Looks like Ed is the only one with a documented Title of Merit - would be curious to know the story behind this person - UB, can you share the bio of this person from the book (name is in above link)? Thanks, Bob
    9. "Best Employee of Correction Department" From quick scan, I think this is a new one not seen in Battushig. It appears to have a nice place under this section. I was pleasantly surprised by the size/weight of this award.
    10. checked, and 1957 in the award doc - still happy that it has a loving home now instead of cold and windy flea market in Tbilisi:)
    11. This is sounding better and better Possibly a watershed moment for Mongolia collecting.
    12. 180168190414 can't comment on if it's "good" but at least it's english!
    13. 180168190414 would this book on ebay not cover your needs? happened to stumble across it and remembered this thread
    14. Sounds very exciting UB - is it a government publication? Does it contain award numbers in additional to biographical information?
    15. Imagine the potential if we could somehow add numbers to all the awardings in the book - it would be the first Mongolian award where we'd potentially have exhaustive documentation on who, what, when, where. Exciting times ahead - the best is yet to come for Mongolia collecting!
    16. Hi UB - PM just sent - I can hardly wait! If ever there's a good motivation to study Mongolian (or at least, get a good dictionary ) this will certainly be it! I see a GMIC-Mongolia-forum project coming out of this Thanks
    17. If everybody on GMIC pitches in we can purchase it. Rather than commit funds, I'll commit my house as safe place to keep this set. Deal?
    18. Hero Star nr 19 now for sale for 2 euros 280162428253
    19. Thanks Rick - I'll have a look at the booklet later this evening.
    20. I suspect somewhere in Tbilisi on a flea market somewhere (or picked up by another traveller appreciative of atypical countries to go to on vacation - Chuck perhaps? Wishful thinking )
    21. And to top it off, a nice picture of our fighter.
    22. Picked this up while in Georgia on vacation almost a year ago and finally got the research (and translation ) in. Nothing "special" compared to most of the other things shown on the forum but it was nice for me to get the "story" behind the award. Also, it was my first research (Soviet awards isn't my main area of collecting) and am happy with the broadness of information research provides. Still have another red star (in serial range to have been awarded to a Mongolian) awaiting research as well as a Service to Homeland 3rd class order. I have one question: does the D on the booklet mean the order booklet is a duplicate?
    23. Dear all - both usairforce and reichsrommel have been in contact with me offline to apologize for the issue which the last several posts have focussed on and have gone the extra mile to correct it. I appreciate their response and efforts to resolve this. After all, I see it as an indication that they value maintaining a good reputation by sticking to solid business practices and good relations with the collecting community and look forward to this continuing in the future. The Mongolia area of collecting is a very small one and, as far as I have been able to experience, one which a very good community spirit (especially on this board). I hope it stays this way for all (and sharing information and upholding high standards is key to this in my eyes). Kind regards, Bob
