    1. Very nice. That is in great condition. I have a India FS as well but not nearly as clean as yours.
    2. I believe this to be a period conversion. The pin used is typical of period ribbon bars and other decorations. I even have a parade spange with this style pin on it. The small ring was very nicely removed there is evidence of the modification (under) all of the build up of tarnish and dirt. The pin itself was crudly done or possibly repaired after the conversion.
    3. Here is a new one for me. This is a Ek2 converterd to a Ek1.
    4. You have a nice collection of fighting knives. I like to play with knives also.. Here are some of mine. http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=4186...fighting+knives
    5. There are examples of one piece crosses being die struck from "Nue-silber". A nickel alloy.
    6. A very interesting and well researched thread. I have a perfect match to the 2nd class version posted in post 17 and 18 except mine has not silber making on it. Other than that, the core and frame beading are identical. Here is mine, Not as nice as Michas but still a match.
    7. A picture of the back of the Ek1 would eally help.
    8. To get the conversation going-- I once posted a mini of roughly the same size and asked if it was a mini or a prinzen. The responce I received was that because it was made as a single piece it should be classified a mini. A 1/2 sized prinzen would be of 3 piece consturction and be a accurate representation of a fullsized cross. IMO--using that criteria, yours is a prinzen.
    9. You know my opinion. I am surprised no one else has offered anthing up.
    10. thanks Micha, That was my view as well. Odd enough or should I say interesting enough to keep. Real Ek or not.
    11. I've seen the book and read old threads about these crosses but there still seems to be a little bit of doubt. http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/forums/sho...ad.php?t=349912 Moderators--If I am out of line posting this link, please remove it. Greg
    12. Check these out----- http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/forums/sho...hlight=brass+ek
    13. I think you "J" might actually be one of the "square punch" Ek2.
    14. SWEET ! I have some old original sales catalogs with some very fine line dreawings but nothing to compare to these.--beautiful. Thanks for showing them.
    15. something else that looks "off" to me------ Check out the picture of the hinge in post #3. Look at the gray discoloration of the back of the cross where the hinge is attached to the back of the cross. In my opinion that hinge block was welded on to the cross and not soldered. The gray discoloration is caused by the super hot gas used in the welding process. I work in a aluminum fabrication shop and it is very common to see these dark areas in the welds done using "MIG" wire feed welders.
    16. I am leaning in Mike's direction on this one. I don't like the patina on the back of the cross. It looks like it was a chemical was of some kind. I also have not this style of hinge block and catch before.
    17. the BD 800 is a CD800 that was double stamped. C over 8 = B
    18. It looks like the typical Tr era cross. Possibly made by Deumer. these '30s era crosses ARE very light weight. I don't see any problems with yours. Maybe Micha, Steve or Joe can add further comments.
    19. It's still a keeper in my opinion. I like Joe's idea of displaying one up and one down. I do that with one of my double post screwbacks. .
