8 piece ribbon bar
M Hunter replied to OvBacon's topic in Germany: Third Reich: State, Civil, NSDAP Awards & Decorations
The order looks ok...i think the 5th ribbon is meant to be a Austrian Anschluss medal ribbon....but either way, the bar is a reproduction. Matt -
German Ribbon Bar
M Hunter replied to Signalcorps45's topic in Germany: Third Reich: State, Civil, NSDAP Awards & Decorations
They look like the ribbon used for the 1939-1945 Honor Cross for Veterans....but 4 of them? Maybe the other 3 are for something else! Matt -
Hi Ulsterman, Have replied to you on the other thread! Please elaborate! Thanks Matt

Hi Ulsterman Please explain what "edge-stiching" is... to me it does not look like the first and last ribbons are stiched to the backing cloth...but maybe you mean something else? These are the only pictures the seller has provided so far. Is ther something not right with it? Appreciate your looking and comment! Thanks Matt

Just trying to educate myself on the Austrian awards a little more and having done an internet search can find no in depth information on awards 3 & 4 with crowns...so opened a topic in the Austrian Section of the Forum. http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=41695&st=0&p=385763&#entry385763 Kind regards Matt

Gents, Thinking of buying this medal bar, but can someone tell me what the Austrian awards with the crowns are? And what they were awarded for? Are they the standard bravery awards, and then got the crowns added for an extra act of bravery? Also i have noticed on the reverse, it states the same motto...but on the obverse there are 2 different Emperors'... My thanks for any help! Matt P.S. I had this bar discussed on the German forum. Can be viewed here: http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=41668&st=0&p=385465&#entry385465

Thank you to Rick and everyone else for commenting. Rick: Very interesting that this chap may have been Czech! Vince: Here is another example of a bar like this without the EK2! If anyone would like to PM regarding a rough estimate price for the medal bar pictured above, i would greatly appreciate it. Would just like to discuss over with someone the price it has been offered to me at. I am considering buying it, but do not want to be robbed! Still new to medal bar collecting as some here may know! Kind regards Matt

Is this a Floch?
M Hunter replied to cabbell2207's topic in Germany: Third Reich: State, Civil, NSDAP Awards & Decorations
Sorry to impose on your thread with a silly question, but what is a Floch? Thanks Matt -
Gents, Came across this this evening, and would value your opinions. There doesn't seem to be any Austrian Commemorative Medal for 1914-1918, but all his WW1 medals are Austrian. Perhaps someone can shed a bit of light on this for me? P.S. Posting here and not in the Austrian section as this bar is mounted in the German fashion. Best regards and as always my thanks! Matt

Thank you both for your comments. I do not believe that there was a Red Eagle Order on this bar. There is the trace of the Hanseatic Cross on the medal as i pointed out in a previous post, making me think that this medal has been on this bar for a long time! There is similar wear on all medals. The Prussian medal used to be over the ribbon (medals are all on hooks) and may have been like this for some time causing wear and tear to the ribbon. The EK2 ribbon and the DA25 ribbon have similar wear and tear. I put the medal back under the ribbon again. Matt

Timo, Yes you are correct about naming both of the last ribbons. Perhaps there was one of these devices on the Luftschutz ribbon? Usually there was no way of distinguishing if the award was the 1st class or 2nd class, so maybe this chap wanted to do that with a device...making me think maybe it was a 1st class he received! Matt

Gentlemen, This is the latest addition to my small medal bar collection...again, in keeping with my collection theme of Hanseatic Crosses! I am seeking to further my knowledge on the 3rd medal: Prussian General Honour Medal. The internet has not weilded much in the line of precise information. Was it awarded for Merit? I have discovered that they were awarded in Bronze and Silver. Mine appears to be silver. Also, what kind of chap would have worn this bar? Enlisted Man? An Officer? My thanks and compliments of the season to my fellow GMIC members. Matt
