    1. Kriegsmarine a/B. U34 left: Gerd Schaar, Kdt. U957 (01-04-43 / 21-10-44) & U2551 (Apr.45 / 05-05-45) EK2 Verleihung
    2. A pc-size photo from my collection, Farrier-Major of the Welsh Division RFA TA
    3. Can you get hold of the book: Deutsche Uniform abzeichen 1900-1945 produced by Militar-Verlag Klaus D. Patzwall (1994) Under Section K, there is a rather complete outline of badges of rank of the German Forestry Service, I dare not infering with the rights of Mr. Patzwall. I have found the book through the internet, perhaps you may also...
    4. I also came across this undated press photo from the Great War: On the British Western Front in France, British troops grew potatoes and vegetables behind the front. Left: A WO cl.III of the Welch Regiment, Right: A sergeant of the London Scottish.
    5. That's an interesting thought! But, as Wilhelm Schulze received his RKKVK on 25-02-1944 that includes that the photo was taken after that date, but to my understanding the RAD cuffbands (as shown in the picture) were no longer used from about mid-1941. That leaves only few options: - The cuffbands remained in use until after Feb.44 - The person is likely to be another RAD-knightscross holder (Commichau perhaps, with the PLM?)
    6. No disrespect Paul, but I am glad to see an old custom revived, instead of inventing something new. Thanks for showing the badge, new style!
    7. What a novilty..., glad the MOD remained true to their colours; what's new?
    8. Gents, don't run into a pre-assumed trap, stick to the facts: what do we see, and how do we interpretate an image.... No skin of my back, but I'd like a solid confirmation, or solid other opinion, ......
    9. Indeed Uwe, the basic crest is the same, the surrounding attributes are different... :)
    10. I made a mistake, Detlev, it is Pius X. For the sake of determination (and with thanks to Wikipedia) I will show all the crests of the popes between 1878 and 2012...: Pope Leo XIII (1878-1903) Pope Pius X (1903-1914) Pope Benedict XV (1914-1922) Pope Pius XI (1922-1939) Pope Pius XII (1939-1958) Pope John XXIII (1958-1963) Pope Paul VI (1963-1978) Pope John/Paul I (1978) Pope John/Paul II (1978-2005) Pope Benedict XVI (2005 till present)
    11. Indeed Uwe, issued under the reign of Leo XII but, judging from the shape of the box, a late issue (can you please show us the interior?) as the earlier boxes to my knowledge had only two "top" corners and a rounded "bottom" (where the lid closes).
    12. Hi Detlev, This medal and box were issued during the reign of Pius XI. PEeP Crosses that were issued during the reign of a Pope had the crest of that pope on the lid of the box, crosses issued during the Sede Vacante generaly carried the badge with two crossed keys.
    13. I agree with your observation considering the Ostpreußen traditions badge, the centre of the badge is reflecting the light of the flash, and it shows like white... Also, the Abteilingsabzeichen (6/10) is from Ostpreußen, thus conforming the Erinnerungsabzeichen.
    14. I agree with Paul C Rangliste 1924: KzS Wieting: RA-Orden m.Schl.u,Schw; EK1; DA-Kreuz; Baden: O.v.Zähr. Löwen RK 3. Kl m.schw.; Meckl-Schw. Mil-Verdienstkr. 2. Kl.; Hanseatenkreuz Bremen, u. Lübeck; Braunschweig, Komdt. Klt Witthoeft: EK1 Wieting had no effective command, he was pensioned 31-03-1927 (Rear-Admiral) and recalled 24-05-1939; honorary promotion as VAdm on 01-02-1942, and discharged 28-02-1942. 12-05-41 / 30-11-41, employed as Oberwerftdirektor (Dock Yard Supervisor - a typical position for a re-called Admiral) at the KM-Werft La Pallice (France) 01-12-41 / 28-02-42, supernumerary to the C-in-C Naval Station Baltic
    15. OK thanks Robin, I have a whole bunch of these but none from the Werkschar production.
