    1. Hi all, Just saw this on MSN and thought I'd pop it on here for anyone else who'd like to see it. Very interesting story on a Medal of Honor Hero: http://video.msn.com/video.aspx?mkt=en-us&...SNHP>1=10547 Dan
    2. Hi Gordon, Many thanks!!!! Wow... two I didn't know about. Can anyone post pics of those? Would love to see them. Also... just so you know... I haven't forgotten about the Munkasor tunic... won't be too long now. These just popped up from nowhere and I simply couldn't pass them up... been waiting since before Vic got his... in fact I shot him the links on those before. I'm so happy he was able to get the one he did and I pray he can work out the other one. Gotta keep both sides of the pond in balance. These are indeed terrific sets by the look of them... course I know they'll be even better in person. Best of luck to everyone us our members who are hunting for these. I think they are well worth having as a part of ones Hungarian collection. Dan
    3. Hi Vic, Many thanks my friend!!!! Can't wait till you get the other one and we have bookends! By the way... can anyone translate what it says on the top of the case? Thanks!!!! Dan
    4. So happy to finally have these. I hope someday to be able to obtain the set of mini's and although I'd love to have the set of full sized awards... don't know if that will ever happen. But I can always dream... Dan
    5. Hi Vic, Hope you don't mind me premiering mine here... will put more detailed pics in another thread of my Hungarian collection. Just worked these out and can't wait till they arrive. Many thanks to Zsolt without whom it would not have been possible. And also many thanks to him for being so kind to allow me to use his terrific pics of the sets. Zsolt... you're the greatest!
    6. Hi Christian, Many thanks!!!! If it's okay... I'll again pass the next question on to Charles (Hunyadi) if he'd like it. I know he'll come up with a good one. Dan
    7. Okay folks... I'm going to go out on a limb and try for another one. They encountered the wine cellars... and I presume it took them that long to drink their way through it. Keeping my fingers crossed! Dan
    8. Geez Ed... I haven't had time to reply to your last PM to me... I hope since I'm not a citizen of Pluto I won't fall under any death sentences under your new position on said planet. Dan
    9. Hi Christophe, I think he meant blame Charles for Ed's getting to come up with another difficult question. And that he has. I for one only know two of them for sure... the rest no idea. And sadly little or no time to research it right now as I'm working three jobs, grabbing sleep when I can and can't wait for this coming Friday and Saturday as I'm off from all three... although I need to go out of town most of the day Friday. Nevertheless I'm hoping to relax a bit and perhaps be able to catch up on things here. Best of luck to all on this one! Another great job Ed! Dan
    10. Hi Ed, I requested and finally got a scan of the reverse sans screwback... don't know if it helps: It's already gone higher than I'd hoped it would go and still time left. Here's the link in case any other members are intro'd: http://cgi.ebay.com/Order-Medal-Combat-Ser...1QQcmdZViewItem Item number: 110181033391 And many thanks to both Rick and Ed for being kind enough to give their input. It is deeply appreciated! Dan
    11. Hi all, Does this one look okay? I'm thinking of it but want other opinions. Figuring by the green bible it's about 1943? Dan
    12. Dear Vic, Many thanks my friend! I've wanted one for soooooo long and I simply could not pass this one up. A friend of ours used to be in the jewelry business and has some stuff left including some loose stones. They think they may have a ruby which will work placed in the star at the top of the Spasky Tower... and perhaps even some small CZ's which would work on the wreath... which would make it look that much more authentic I think. But have to wait till I'm back with the car to go over and find out. Will let ya'll know how it goes. Gotta run for now. Everyone have a great weekend! Dan
    13. Hi Christian, Many thanks my friend! PM sent. I also forgot to mention... I do have a ribbon bar coming for it from Canada which will be placed in position with the Order in the case... I'll do new pics when it arrives. Dan
    14. Hi all, Many thanks Christian! Here's the scoop on Charles... I just heard back from him. He said he'd very much like to ask the next one if possible... but that he won't be able to do it until Monday afternoon. He said if that is okay with everything then he'll take it then... if not to pass it along to Ed. I have no problem waiting but didn't know how the rest of the group felt. And I agree with Ed that Charles did have an excellent question if that's the one he wants to go with. I (and Charles) await the decision of the group. Thanks! Dan
    15. Thanks Frank and Christophe. Well, I give the honor of asking the next question to Charles. If he decides to decline then I'd like to pass it to Ed in honor of his recent birthday. So guess we'll have to wait to hear from Charles now. I've also PM'd him so hopefully he'll get with us soon. Thanks again! Dan
    16. Hi Christophe, Sounds good. I've PM'd Charles although he should be getting these post notifications as well. If he passes on it then I have someone else in mind. And although I'd love to do it myself, with having to go pick up my car (info posted in the lounge) this coming Sunday through Tuesday and having to work two of my jobs tomorrow I really don't have much time to dedicate to it right now. Perhaps if I win another down the road. Although it's unlikely in my case I'd sure love to shoot for one of those lovely awards for lots of answers. So we'll wait and see... back to hovering. Dan
    17. Hi all, No decision yet? I'll keep hovering although I've gotta hit the bed in a bit. Long few days ahead. Dan
    18. Hi Vic, As you know I've joined the club: Case was originally a jewelers ring case which I reworked. Can easily be put back the way it was or bases switched out for display of other Orders, etc. Dan
    19. Hi all, Here are my contributions: From the Georgy Tatoevich Dzhidzhiashvili group (http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=7585&st=0&start=0) (Posts 11 through 16) Red Star is Number 3377507:
    20. Hi Charles, Very colorful medal/ribbon. But I think Rick nailed it when he said the obverse portrait looks a bit on the devilish side of things. Interesting thread... hope there's more to come. Dan
