    1. Military Order of Orange-Nassau. Left a Knight and right a Medal
    2. This is definitely one of my favorite images.... It shows a junior white dutch soldier talking to an Indonesian soldier who just received the MWO. 1947
    3. Long service medal 1949 for 50 years of service... I think this is an amazing image.
    4. I completely agree that when something doesn't look or feel right it's better to pass it on.... unless you believe that the price is so good and/or the item is so good that you can live with finding out it is a copy/reproduction or even a flat out fake. Now granted I do not spend large amounts on collecting as I have two businesses to run and simply can't rationalize large spendings on frivolous" things and so I spend smaller amounts (few hundred here or there) on items that I feel are real or at least worth the money.
    5. A Sergeant from Timor receiving the Bronze Lion.
    6. Very nice Andreas.. Here a table with awards (I've put in the names from the awards that are recognizable)
    7. First one looks like the inner part of a WWI British Tank Crew splatter Face Mask
    8. I've always found it so interesting how humans want to mark that "they" were in a place... Writing their names and other stuff on walls that have stood for a long time. I can't say I have ever understood it as I do not have the desire to put my name in places thinking that someone later will read it and wonder who I am... I traveled through Africa overland and in Egypt it was so interesting to see that Napoleon's soldiers put graffiti in the pyramids etc... I do understand that some of it might be interesting hundreds of years later but looking at the destruction of berlin and then the soldiers going all out on buildings makes me a little sad how most people will have a really hard time respecting the place they invade/liberate.
    9. Not sure if anyone is really interested in this but hey I'll do it for my own amusement anywayzzz This is Ms. B.J. Fick-Gemmeke, the first woman receiving the Military William Order (After Wilhelmina who received it from her daughter Queen Juliana). 1951.
    10. 1957 Indonesia (The Dutch East Indies) two men are awarded with the Dutch Life saving medal (Honorary Medal for Charitable Assistance) for rescuing survivors from a shipwreck. The front man also has a "Star for Loyalty and Merit"
    11. And Indonesian fighter receiving The Cross for Courage and Fidelity in 1950 for his service against the Japanese occupation. This cross is the second highest award of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, preceded only by the Military William Order. The cross was awarded to (and is still worn by) natives of the Netherlands East Indies that showed exceptional display of bravery and fidelity. It is the highest award this man could have received.
    12. I love seeing photos of interesting awardees of Dutch awards, orders and or medals... no restrictions on the type of award. Of course I could start with a soldier getting the highest award but I think this one is really nice. The medal is a Silver medal of the Order of Orange-Nassau
    13. WOW.... 15k that's insane.... And the fact that you debated getting it is even more interesting. My wife would shoot me if I spend more than a few hundred on any medal etc. I can buy a 40k piece of machinery for our business but no hobby stuff Not that I mind since we have a few amazing toys to drive that are business safe.
    14. Maybe I'm missing something or something you intended to include has been left out but if you did mean to ask what "TNRGW1914-18 Section VII London" stands for it is "the National Roll of the Great War 1914-1918". Otherwise I'm sorry that I misunderstood and posted the obvious. One of the most sought-after sets of reference books of the First World War is the National Roll of the Great War. The National Publishing Company attempted, shortly after hostilities ceased, to compile a brief biography of as many participants in the War as possible. The vast majority of entries refer to combatants who survived the Great War and the National Roll is often the only source of information available. Fourteen volumes were completed on a regional basis; this index database now allows simple searching of this unique reference source. Original volumes of this work are scarce the only 14 volumes ever published, cover a region, as follows: Section I London W, C and N Section II London W, C and N Section III London W, C and N Section IV Southampton Section V Luton and vicinity (includes other parts of Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire) Section VI Birmingham Section VII London W, SE and C Section VIII Leeds Section IX Bradford Section X Portsmouth Section XI Manchester Section XII Bedford and Northampton Section XIII London SE Section XIV Salford If you needed help from someone who owns the the National Roll of the Great War than I'm also sorry as I do not have it.
    15. When armies still marched to and fro with a drum player....
    16. I took the liberty to download it and reupload in a visible format
    17. one correction: The thai order is a Grand Cross of the Order of the White Elephant
    18. @ixhs, what are the things you look at or what are the characteristics of a Godet core. btw, thanks for your input
    19. Yes, it is a box for an order with swords
    20. The Royal Greek Order of George I (looks like a Grand Commander)
    21. So with this having Belgium, French, Dutch, Russian etc could this just be a British diplomat or is it looking like a fantasy bar?!
    22. The photo I posted was taken in 1955 and he received the Medal of Freedom with Gold Palm on April 7th 1953 so he must have had a reason to not wear in on his medal bar.
