Very interesting (to me) photo to say the least... I believe that I own one of these white tunics (that I have always thought to be a potential Ministry of State Railways item, but could not put a finger on as to precisely what it was BTW). It is made from thin off-white linen, had collar tabs at one time, and has silvered Railways buttons. It has two holes on each collar flap. Going by your photo is how I have come to this hypothesis that it is indeed such a thing, undocumented in any "professor's" book... Thanks for showing the photo 'Ferdinand' :cheers:

A very rare occurrence to see these words "contusion" actually written... Most, if not all of these cases were written of by the powers that be (or were, for that matter) as "cowardice"...

You are welcome... I included the last image for interest's sake. Whether or not the two men are indeed pilots is debatable. However, the jackets they are wearing appear to be military issue similar as the one's shown in the first two images. - My wife grew up in Sevastopol and she remembers the military pilots from Belbek that spent time in the city, and she states that many wore such jackets with their civilian "wear".

dd, This is the first time I have seen an authentic pre-1943 "pullover" without external pockets. Did only high ranking commanders use such a pattern? This is yet another subject that would be very interesting to learn more about. Respectfully, Richie C

This was released this past Spring. It has only thirty or so pages, but is full of nice colour plates and some comprehensive info about this relatively unknown Soviet collecting facet. Modifying pre 1943 uniforms to conform to 1943 orders seems to have been common practice, especially with Kitel and Gymnasterka blouses. There are quite a few images of examples, in period photo form, inside the newest Air Force uniform reference "Униформа Российского воздушного флота", том II". However, converting Model 1943 type uniforms back to pre and early war specifications is a practice that has only developed in the last ten years or so...
