    3. Hallo don, calm down a little, I am as interested as you to find out what it is, but let me clarify one point, FACT: the seller was not a militaria dealer per say, in fact this was the only militaria item he had on his table, ( here in Romania the collectors meetings consist of a large group of tables usually in a factory canteen, and the priority with regards the selling is Banknotes & Coins, Postcards & Phonecards, Stamps, Documents, Bric-a-Brac or Objects d' Art and then militaria., the sellers travel from all over Romania to attend events, and very few are proffesional sellers. With regards your statement "There is no record that any maker made hollow back silvers and golds in mass amounts." Did any maker make hollow back silvers & golds in small amounts?? Bear with me, as I am far from being an expert in the field of iii reich awards. FACT: The item is not magnetic, wether thats good or bad I dont know. Ok, thanks for taking the time to post your pictures you happy now If you want to see the pictures full size please PM me your email address. Kevin in Deva
    4. Hallo Gents I have to say mine is not polished Brass, and if it is a paint job it not so obvious, when I get a mo' I will try to scan it or take more detailed pictures so you can give it a good "once-over". By the way, don, I never claimed it was a replacement anything, I just posted a picture of what I have. Kevin in Deva.
    5. Hallo Paul now thats interesting, I have examined the badge and can detect no trace of any Black or Silver paint, this particular badge was obtained at a collectors meeting in Romania in 2005, the guy I bought it off was not a militaria dealer in general and seemed to have no idea what it was for, other than it was from"hitler". 6. err......... isnt that the Squaack section?? no offence to any poultry that might be reading this THE REAR of the Lapel Pin. Kevin in Deva
    7. Hallo Gentlemen I was going through some old photos I had taken in the town of Kempten (Allg?u) Bavaria where I had the pleasure to live for 5 years, when I came across these shots of two granite stone plaques, (which are in need of a clean) they are located on a side wall of the Residenze-hoff (the Bishop's Palace). Maybe the information is of interest to some of our members ? and possibly, somebody could translate exactly what the Units were?? Many thanks from, Kevin in Deva.
    8. Hallo Gentlemen, I came across this recently, I know its Italian, but what for exactly, one friend suggested military carrier pigeon service Kevin in Deva.
    9. Hallo Tomitchoe, well its not the usual style of Linden Leaf one normally associates with Czechaslovakian decorations although the ribbon has some similarities, (the Czech ribbons were of a very coarse weave,) I am not 100% sure but I think the Belgians might have supplied some of their medals to veterans of the Czech Legion, or this might just be a variation of the Belgian Victory Ribbon. At the moment my book on WW1 Victory Medals by A. Laslo is out to a friend. but I will check it out for you, if nobody else posts here. PS attached is a sample of Czech Victory Ribbon. Kevin in Deva.
    10. Hallo Gentlemen with regards the U. N. E. F. Medal please see post 11 at http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=9705...=United+Nations Kevin in Deva.

    12. The rears, the hinge pin on the gold is broken in the center and so the pin fell out, maybe when it was pulled off a jacket? the head and bottom of the pin are still in place only the center section is gone!! Kevin in Deva.
    13. Hallo Gents some great looking wound badges, I add here my two, seemingly unmarked, the Gold has suffered some damage and the pin is missing. Black measures: width 37mm X 44,5 mm Gold measures: 36mm X 44mm Any idea as to maker and type?? Kevin in Deva.
    14. Hallo Greg, In my humble opinion reading from the top down: 1. Germany, State of Hessen-Darmstadt Bravery Medal 1894 - 1918. 2. Prussian War Help Service Cross. 3. iii reich, Hindeberg Cross of Honour 1934. 4. Hungarian WW1 Commemorative Medal circa 1934. So technically not an Austrian amongst them Kevin in Deva
    15. Can you supply the link to the original page, this picture is very small. Kevin in Deva.
    16. Old news but might be of interest to some members outside of the uSA and quite unaware of the contraversay and red tape with regards this award in 2000. An investigation in 2000 by Stars and Stripes reporter Jon R. Anderson showed that many of the Bronze Stars awarded for service in Kosovo went to Air Force and Navy personnel who were not in the combat zone. The issue produced numerous letters to the editor and a Pentagon review of the process. 17. So what remains to do now? mark the spot with a suitable monument, a larger than life size bronze statue of Sgt York, 45 in hand, maybe standing on a towering base carved in marble or granite in the shape of a spent 45 Cartridge. In reality if Sgt York had stood in a field untouched by war, and was the only one there to fire off his 45 then just maybe, I could believe this, but in reality trillions of bullets were fired, and trillions of spent cases were left lying around the area of France & Belgium, both in WW1 & WW2. Cant wait to see if any Hollywoodish is going to do a remake of the movie, in the style of the Flyboys etc...etc... Kevin in Deva
    18. Hallo Dave, thanks for the translation, I have trouble reading my own handwriting, and thats in English No! seriously, I was trying to figure out was the guy a Romanian in the French Army, (I know pre WW1 and post WW1 there were very strong ties with France,) if so which, side did he serve, i.e. Vichy or Free France, and I also was hoping that the style of uniform might i d his branch of service, in the picture he looks factory fresh, but no insignia, emblems etc..etc.. Kevin in Deva
    19. Hallo Theo, ROFL and I was using Sunblock 100,000 while guarding my garlic patch from the pesky Garlic Thieves as well Actually everyone compliments me on my Bulgarian look Kevin
    20. Hallo Robert, making things clearer still, here is a scan of the illustration by Malcom McGregor, taken from the great book by Brian L. Davis you mentioned. " 2. HJ-Adjutant. A silver-grey "Wolfstounge" rune on a red cloth diamond worn on the left fore-arm. Examples of this badge in postwar collections are always of the oval variety. 3. HJ-Adjutant attached to the Political Leadership Corps (HJ-Adjutant bei den Politischen Leiter) worn on the left forearm. By any chance did No. 3 cover recruiting duties? if so maybe the one featured in the picture is this one?? Kevin in Deva.
    21. Hallo hunyadi I attach a picture of the particular Jungvolk Leader Badge that Matt mentions, as of yet I have not been able to identify the lower insignia, its at avery difficult angle and the detail poor. Kevin in Deva.
    22. Hallo Paul, David Just my 10 Bani's worth but does the back of this bar look similar in style to some of the well known fakes listed on that particular thread, i.e. in particular the small piece of backing felt and style of stitching?? Kevin in Deva
