    5. Hallo Gentlemen, I decided to post the few cap-badges I have in my collection, some are related to Regiments who served in the Military Barracks in Castlebar prior to 1920, when Ireland became a Republic. And some have connections to Regiments local men served with in WW1. I also show a belt with Capbadges and insignia I picked up a few years ago at a Fleamarket in Germany, I have never managed to identify the type of belt or who the buckle represents it says "GIBRALTER" * * * * MARE PER TERRAM. Any comments on all items would be welcome. First Up CONNAUGHT RANGERS, Kevin in Deva.
    6. Hallo Gentlemen Does anybody have any Irish Militia badges in there collection, or know of anybody with any? I am looking for pictures of two Regiments in particular, as illustrations for my book, and credit will be given to the owner of the badges. THE NORTH MAYO MILITIA SOUTH MAYO MILITIA* * Later they became a the SOUTH MAYO RIFLES. Please see under for descriptions. CAP BADGES OF IRISH MILITIAS. North Mayo Militia: A Salamander with a scroll below it, the scroll inscribed ?North Mayo?s?. South Mayo Militia: A Crowned Circle inscribed ?South Mayo Rifles? The circle partially enclosed within a shamrock wreath. Inside the circle the arms of the Marquis of Sligo whose ancestors raised the corps. Both regiments were eventualy amalgemated in to the South Mayo, these in turn became a Militia Bn of the Connaught Rangers. I also attach a picture of a handy little book with regards British Cap badges, though dated, there might be an even newer edition than the one pictured, I got mine a few years ago and the ISBN number is: ISBN 1 - 85409 - 426 -2 Kevin in Deva.
    7. Hallo Ricky thanks so much for the translation, I got it today, the reason being, here in Romania I havent seen much evidence of any Russian Militaria, in fact apart from the defeat of Germany medal with old Joe on it can't say I have seen any Russian orders, decorations or order books!! Kevin in Deva
    8. Hallo Gentlemen I wish to post images if the front and back of a original WW2 period photo found at the collectors meeting in Deva today. The front shows two seated soldiers, one Russian, with decorations, the other a Romanian soldier. To the rear is a hand written inscription in Russian and I would be obliged for a translation if possible. Thank you, Kevin in Deva.
    9. Hallo Stogie, at a guess, non-com mixed in with combat awards arranged in the wrong precedence with ribbons the glow like the Northern lights in the starry starry skye obviously constructed yesterday for sale tomorrow Kevin in Deva

    12. Hallo Mossy just a quick question, you say the last one is "Army" Long Service, do you mean a "Military Service" Medal?? because its confusing when its a NAVAL bar if you get my drift Do the Italians issue the same service medal & ribbon for all three services?? Kevin in Deva.
    13. Hallo Pat with regards the stamp on your armband, Ebay purchase?? I post a picture of a pair of trousers in a German friends collection, his SS trousers are 100% the genuine article, the stamp looks very similar to the stamp on the trousers, but I think the original stamp had a thinner SS, however seeing the place produced so much stuff, there had to be more than one stamp in use. Also he told me the BW stands for Buchen-Wald Concentration Camp. Kevin in Deva.
    14. Hallo Pat, so many of these low ranking medals for civilian factory workers were made they never had to fake them (just like the Hindenberg Cross for 1914-18, issued from 1934 onwards) in my time in Bavaria, at a local Flea-market one guy used to bring a couple of shoe boxes full along to sell. Kevin in Deva.
    15. Hallo Ulsterman, the interesting thing to look for are the pre-Communist medals that turn up amongst the other stuff, some were issued under Chaing-Kai-Shek before Mao took over and remember "One mans Junk is another mans treasure" Kevin in Deva.
    16. Hallo Ulsterman I brightened the picture, now they look more like medals, not sure what for, service in the Mighty Red Menace Kevin in Deva.
    17. Glad to hear the item was found bet the old heart was poundin fast for a while Praise the Medal God and pass the valium Kevin in Deva
    18. Thanks for the info with regards this item Another myth?? the Airplane destruction badge (similar to the Tank destruction Badge) that comes up for sale now and again on ebay, I believe they were authorised but the factory was destroyed before production got underway and none were ever made or issued. Maybe we should start a thread and post all examples of Fake, Fantasy, 3 reich items we spot on the net?? Comments please! Kevin in Deva
