    1. Looks Indian made to me..... Very cheap silver and pin looks like it does not have a very sharp point.....
    2. The reason I ask is that the rim at the tip near the suspension is thick and near the bottom is quite thin and I think that it may be an officially re-named medal..... This could have had an effect on the value but in this case not..... I would think that it is about $175.00 as it is a corps and not a regimental unit..... Finding information on him would have to be through the National Archives in Kew by a professional researcher...... Mike
    3. Hello Capt. Albert..... Can you post a photo of the naming on the edge..... Mike
    4. Chris......... The trouble with that is the medal was not founded until 1922...... The military version of the OBE / MBE would have had the red stripe in the middle...... Mike
    5. Hi Timo...... Denmark was not involved with WW1 as a combattant so therefor I think that the other two are more likely..... Mike
    6. Hi Timo...... I think that you may be right........ Victoria Cross Navy Distinguished Service Cross Foreign Medal - Unknown This would have been before the WW1 medals were issued........ Mike
    7. Hi Mike..... Yes the slouch hat was a piece of uniform that was worn by most of the people in SA in the field with the exception of the regular British Army units who wore the helmet...... It was a standard piece of uniform for Mounted Infantry...... Mike
    8. Timo...... I found a picture of a DoT Rocket Apparatus Medal from my collection, see ribbon...... Mike
    9. Good Morning Mervyn..... The official title is "THE BOARD OF TRADE, ROCKET APPARATUS VOLUNTEER LONG SERVICE MEDAL"..... Instituted in 1911by the Board of Trade, now called as of 1968 The Coast Guard Auxillary Service Medal...... Mike
    10. Good Morning Timo..... This is a very odd ribbon bar..... You have 3 different services...... The Rocket Apparatus is a Long service medal so would be worn after the Army LSGC..... I am sorry to say that I honestly do not think that it is the Rocket Apparatus...... The ribbon is not the right size or colour...... See MYB 227...... The DSC and Regular Army LSGC are the correct ribbons but I just cannot see a person in either the Navy or the Army winning both of these medals especially when there are no campaign medals to go with them...... Also the DSC is for Officers and Regular Army Officers did not receive a LSGC..... I have an idea but again I am not to sure but could they be ribbons for Temperance Medals????? Mike
    11. Hi Timo...... It should read D.L.O.I.Y........ Duke of Lancasters Own Imperial Yeomanry 23rd Company Imperial Yeomanry, 8th Battalion..... Would be interested in purchasing.... Mike
    12. Top left...... Canadian Forces, Air Branch...... Name returned to Royal Canadian Air Force a couple of months ago...... Ribbon Bar..... American Civil Air Patrol but I am sorry I cannot identify which ones..... Mike
    13. Good Afternoon Gentelmen, Mervyn, Stewart and Jock..... The prints that are shown above and attached are from a book called ARMY and NAVY DROLLERIES..... I have a few of the prints myself, there is a set of 26..... Take a look at this: http://www.abebooks.com/servlet/SearchResults?sts=t&tn=ARMY+AND+NAVY+DROLLERIES&x=66&y=22 Mike
    14. Good Morning Steve....... Well you can scratch OBE from your list and look for L.S.G.C. and M.S.M. winners..... Must have been an old sweat...... Mike
    15. Well Mervyn..... We know that the Transvaal Team won in 1906.......... From my collection..... Yours is the only other one that I have ever seen...... Mike
    16. This tally was worn prior to Unification and for a few years afterwards till 1969/70 when there were enough of the Green uniforms to go around..... They were worn by members of the Communications Research Branch...... Mike
    17. Good Afternoon Gentlemen...... Found a Cap Tally that I used to wear..... Mike
    18. Good Morning Ladies and Gentlemen...... Just thought I would post these pictures of my latest finds...... 1871 5th Dragoon Guards Helmet Star 5th Dragoons Guards Pouch / Shabraque Plate Boer War Strathcona's Horse Cap Badge (One of my holy grails only 1 out of 3 to find now) Mike
    19. Good Morning Ladies and Gentlemen...... Just read this thread with great interest even though it is not in my collecting field..... But one interesting item..... There was a member of the collecting community here that is a direct relation to the original Skinner who founded the regiment..... Funny thing is he collects Commonwealth Cavalry..... Mike
    20. Hello Morten..... FYI this is a Canadian map holder..... The giveaway is the C around the broad arrow...... Verry Nice Mike
    21. Thanks for the picture..... I am not up on my non-british medals but the last two do look like the 1914-18 War Medal and the 1914 Star but they are in the wrong order....... Mike
    22. Can you please show some pictures as I have never heard of a Non-British person being given the 1914 Star........ I have gone through the new book "Great War Medal Collectors Companion" which gives a list of all units that were awarded the 1914 star and they are all Bristish Empire troops...... Mike
    23. Justin...... There are some early cap tallies made with Gold Wire the same as the trade badges and also as shown by Mervyn Gold Thread..... Mike
