joe campbell Posted October 7, 2006 Author Posted October 7, 2006 yeah...they transitioned it from a second class to a first class....my eyes is WATERIN' at the beauty before me!!!!i pause for that moment whilst i gaze upon one of my FAVORITEImperial things, an EK2 - 1 conversion....i sez, knowing full well the answer, so this is really an EK 2....yes, sez he, and you can have it for $75.....the pin does not hinge.the burnishing to remove telltale signs of theeye is terrific.i LOVE 'em!enjoy!joe
stevo4361 Posted October 7, 2006 Posted October 7, 2006 Another nice pickup Joe, congrats! How far is the pin above the core of the cross?Kind Regards,Steve
Mike K Posted October 7, 2006 Posted October 7, 2006 Hi Joe,That's a very nice conversion. Great story as well! I only have one. They've cut/ground off the crown and date before adding a hinge/pin/catch assembly, which is set on small plates. Subsequently touched up with black paint. Your's looks much neater!RegardsMike
Motorhead Posted October 7, 2006 Posted October 7, 2006 Great crosses! I had a few of them....and sold them all! Such a(young) idiot I was....and now it's difficult to get the real deal......Micha
joe campbell Posted October 7, 2006 Author Posted October 7, 2006 mike-as micha indicated, they're getting hard to find, and yours is a great example!thanks for the picture.joe
Daniel Murphy Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 Beautiful crosses. I can see why you bought them, I would too. I do have to give the edge to Joes for beauty and simplicity though. Good find.Dan
Tony Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 Thought I'd show my one too.Strange that the reverse is plain, as if the core from an EKI was put in an EKII frame.Tony
Dave B Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 nice eh!eBay.de...you gotta love it! Nice cross Tony mate, unusual it has a plain reverse but a piece I would buy in an instant!Dave
joe campbell Posted October 23, 2006 Author Posted October 23, 2006 tony-ditto what dave said!i'd LOVE to know what the circumstances behind the blank reverse were...nice addition!joe
VtwinVince Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 I also have one of these conversions, and find them very interesting. I also have an EK1 where the pin has broken off, and a jeweler has added a loop at the top and converted the catch to a loop as well, for sewing onto the tunic.
VtwinVince Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 For some reason I've not been able to post pictures on this site.
Nick Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 For some reason I've not been able to post pictures on this site. You need to keep the size below 110kb per picture
VtwinVince Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 Okay, I think I've figured this out, being a computer-imbecile and all. If I convert my files from tif to JPEG, they seem to work. Here's the EK 1 with the modification for sewing onto tunic. Sorry, my scanner is a piece of junk, hence the quality. Reverse on next post.
VtwinVince Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 Here's the reverse. It's a nice quality modification.
VtwinVince Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 Here's the "transitional" example I have. Apologies again for the quality of these scans.
VtwinVince Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 And here's the reverse of same. Again, a very nice level of workmanship on this item.
joe campbell Posted October 30, 2006 Author Posted October 30, 2006 vince- both are excellent examples, and well worth the wait!your jpegs are fine.thanks.joe
