Gordon Williamson Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 Okay, I know its a crappy picture but lets see who can come up with any ideas about this one.
DavidM Posted December 24, 2006 Posted December 24, 2006 HelloI've only just come across this thread. A re-worked first class KVK perhaps ?
Gordon Williamson Posted December 24, 2006 Author Posted December 24, 2006 David,I'd forgotten I'd even posted this. No, nothing re-worked about it. It is a Knight's Cross and 100% original wartime piece. I'll dig out the full set of photos of the thing and post them later today.
Gordon Williamson Posted December 24, 2006 Author Posted December 24, 2006 And here it is. The first image was a bit of a tease, just to show how incredibly detailed the Steinhauer mini RK is.
Gordon Williamson Posted December 24, 2006 Author Posted December 24, 2006 Especially when you consider how tiny it is. Here it is with a full size Steinhauer RK of the KVK.
Gordon Williamson Posted December 24, 2006 Author Posted December 24, 2006 The miniatures even came with their own purpose built case
TerryG Posted December 24, 2006 Posted December 24, 2006 Great set. I love the mini in a case!! Amazing stuff!!
Paul R Posted December 24, 2006 Posted December 24, 2006 That is a great set! Larry, you ought to post yours!!
Laurence Strong Posted December 24, 2006 Posted December 24, 2006 Nice one Gordon It's around Paul, thanks for the nice words though.
DavidM Posted December 24, 2006 Posted December 24, 2006 HelloWhat superb workmanship. From the first picture I'd have never guessed it was a minature - and obviously I didn't !!
Fritz Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 HelloWhat superb workmanship. From the first picture I'd have never guessed it was a minature - and obviously I didn't !! Gordon, Outstanding piece! I would love to add one of those to go with the two I have, here is a pic of my Deschler in silver, I'll have to get one of the gold one I have.
Stan Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 Fritz,Can you please post a shot of the reverse of your Deschler piece?Stan

Stan Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 Fritz. That is a lovely Deschler piece you've got there! Here's my Deschler 900/1 cross without it's blue etui.Stan
Fritz Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 Stan, Here is a pic of the markings on the edge of the lower cross
Fritz Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 (edited) and the maker marks. When I get a chance I'll post the cases for both. There are two styles of hardware on the cases which I'll post pics of. Edited January 16, 2007 by Fritz
Stan Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 Fritz,Thanks very much for sharing those photos. Have you noticed that Deschler pieces appear to have a slight flaw on the reverse? it is between the 9 and the 3 in "1939". I noticed it on yours and mine as well as the one shown in DN's book. The only other Gold Cross I ever saw was the Dodkins piece which was auctioned in 1987. It was stated that 8 were produced and two awarded. I seem to remember that Forman once sold a gold cross without swords.Stan
Marcus H Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 Whats more than ineresting on the mini Gordon is the Ldo logo !!!Thats the first time I have ever seen that whole logo depicted on anything other than paper related materials as such. That is the framed, oblate oval part of the logo, very interesting mate !!KrMarcus
Riley1965 Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 Gordon. That's BEAUTIFUL That is the one TR piece I am determined to add to my collection. I saw one, with a shorter piece of ribbon, at a gun show. He wanted $2500 for it but had it in a frame so I couldn't get a hands on look at it. I'll just keep looking. Again, A very nice piece. You are Very Lucky!!! Doc

You are Very Lucky!!! DocThanks Doc, glad you like it. They are all nice, but for me the Steinhauer is the finest of all the RK of the KVK for sheer quality of the striking. Zimmermann is probably a bit rarer - took me years to track one down-but not at nice as S&Ls piece. Here they are together - Deschler 900 1, Steinhauer 935 4, Zimmermann 900 20
