Ed_Haynes
In (partial) apology for another recent post, here are some awards, in a single image, of those who really made their revolutions. As Marx knew, and others didn't, it wouldn't be "soldiers and sailors" (or even "peasants") who would build the real revolution. For cross-reference (starting on the left, as is appropriate):Lidias Vasilovna Shapovalona -- http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=2735Dankward Fehr -- http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=2455Ivan Donev Stojanov -- http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=3778Gombo Lodoykhuu-- oh, I haven't posted him yet, have I?Unknown Korean Worker -- http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=845&st=60 Edited February 16, 2007 by Ed_Haynes

Ed_Haynes
With some friends here on "home leave", I thought I'd drop down to the next level (though the comparability of awards begins to break down).Just as eye-candy:

Christian Zulus
Dear Ed,great topic .It have been the workers of the Soviet Union, who won the GPW - in the factories and in the first line of the front .Without the victories at the Soviet "Production Front" - all the T-34, Il-2 Shturmoviks, etc. - we still would greet in continental Europe (at least) with "Heil Hitler!" and the dominant colour would be brown .Maybe we can use this thread for comparative studies dealing with the design of communist Labour Orders ?I can see a very dominant influence of basic Soviet design elements - star, hammer & sickle, red flag, etc. - in most of the orders.Best regards Christian Edited April 28, 2007 by Christian Zulus

Christian Zulus
Dear Belaruski, well, Belarus seems to be as socialistic state , but the name is "Republic of Belarus" and not "Socialistic Republic of Belarus". Also in the beginning of the constitution of Belarus it is noted, that the country has to be a "social state" and not a "socialistic state". O.K., we can now discuss, what's the genuine differnce between the term "social" vs. "socialistic" in a constitution, but just on the paper, Belrus is closer to a Swedish form of socialism, than to a Soviet form, just my opinion. But Lukashenko's Belarus has somehow a "healty" socialistic character with a strong emphasis to social welfare, care for veterans, control of capital, etc. - and that's what counts.Dear Ed,Belaruski is right - I checked it in the www - Belarus has only one Hero Star for all fields of activity. The variant of the Russian Federation includes now achievments in the fields of sport, but no heroic deeds at the Labour Front, according to the statutes and regulations.Best regards Christian

Still missing:AfghanistanAlbaniaCubaCzechoslovakiaHungaryRomaniaYemenAnd no others directly parallel??Can anyone help?? Edited to update changes Did some googling out of curiosity - have to say I'm very impressed by the design of the Czechoslovakian award - also the "regular" Hero star. Definately takes the standard design a step further in refinement.
