These set ups did exist but are rare. The thing I noticed is what appears to be an uneven misalignment of the Iron Cross frame itself. Check the left verses right side of the cross. Doesn't seem like what you would expect from a quality piece.

    Agreed 100%...

As point one...a very fishy piece just from the alignment...

    Hello,

I am not sure what you mean by cross alignment. Please explain.

    Thank you!

The silver rims dont seem to be the same width on the left and right sides., as if the core was a tiny bit to the side.

these pictures are too small to make

    any real evaluation.

maybe enlarge and one picture per post?

These are effectively thumbnails - you get a bigger version by clicking on them

    1. The Spange is a well documented fake.

    2. The maker mark is bogus (that in itself doen's make a piece fake, but doesn't help).

    3. As Chris points out, the EK1 looks suspect.

To my eyes, (And it is late), the eagle looks like a chicken. I have to agree however , I wouldn't spend money on this, given it's rarity value

can i help it if i'm a computer midget???

    thanks for the tip, james!

i'd pan this based on the CRUDDY spange

    and the MM stamp.

i reserve judgement on the cross, as the picture

is still too dark, and it most probably has been

vandalized (three piece to two piece) in order

to join it to the back plate. after that, it MAY have been

filed down to match the back plate, explaining

the variation in thicknesses of the flange.

    hugs,

    joe
