hipnos
... upppsss - this one! Sorry! It seems to me, IMHO, A sort of red cross/ humanitary medal. The translation is something like: "Soccour and had Hope"greetingsmiguel
Eric Stahlhut
hi jens, i would look towards bulgaria--based on the ribbon. perhaps forum member 'redcross' can be of real help to you. good luck!
Stogieman
I would agree.... the ribbon colors do suggest Bulgaria...
hipnos
I would agree.... the ribbon colors do suggest Bulgaria...I think you?re mixing the ribbons with the next medal: a Bulgarian Soldiers Bravery cross (1st or 2nd class)...this had the "Italian/hungarian colours on the ribbonGreetingsMiguel
webr55
I don't think it can be Bulgarian because the letters are Latin, not Kyrillic. The shape of the cross rather suggests Yugoslavia.
Stogieman
Don't you think it's really neat when a piece like this pops up that so many of us have never seen before? Almost 100 years later and things still appear that no-one has seen!!

Almost 100 years later and things still appear that no-one has seen!!As you can seen a lot of medals/crosses in this bar are of the unofficial type like veteran leagues assoc, etc...(Nrs.: 4,5, 7, 8, 9 & 10) and so on (Crosses from Austria, Germany etc...), so I think this can justify that some of this crosse aren?t see so frequently in a bar.Miguel Edited May 29, 2008 by hipnos
redcross
It is definetly not a Bulgarian Red Cross medal, but as to what it is.... I don't have a clue, other than there are several 'humnitarian'awards that I have seen, but have not been ableto really document, this is one I hadn't seen before, and have no idea who issued it, except it wasprobably not a red cross organizationwhich generally either use one of the standardred cross mottos, or have the word or abbev for red cross - somewhere on the medalhaving said thatI will add there are any number of red cross medalsI've heard of but never seenand I have no idea how many I've never heard of

Noor
I mean with the "Lilienkreuz" the type of the cross.... not award name . Just like I understand, Italians used same shape of cross for some of they old orders as well.

Eric Stahlhut
Well, I initially thought it could be from one of the Italian states as well, so I went through Modena, Parma, Savoy, Sicily, and Tuscany in Werlich's book. And found nothing. Then I looked at Dorling's ribbon chart and the closest match was for the Order of the Star of Italian Solidarity. But the timeline is off, I think. Since it was nestled next to the last medal on the bar, and the ribbon is very similar to certain Bulgarian order ribbons, I naturally went in that direction.
