Price for 4th class order of red eagle with swords

Can anyone give me a valuation for a 2nd type 4th class Order of Red Eagle with Swords?

2nd type with swords ? Thats the one with the violet eagle, while the 1st type is the one with non-enameled medaillon. So you mean the 3rd type from 1854-1879 with smooth arms and brick-red eagle ? For this type RAOs prices are correct !

Sorry to jump in here, but are you saying that the attached little midget made by Hossaur is worth +1250 Euro?

Oops sorry didn't notice the bit with swords, still do these things command such a high price without swords?

Alex, the second type with smooth arms is becoming scarce, prices are usually in the 4-500.00 USD range for these now. But you have to watch out for some good fakes.

Thanks for the info. this particular piece has been in my collection for a good number of years, it is stamped with the makers mark on the base of the lower arm, it does appear to be a double mis-stamping. paid 16GBP for it

as mentioned above, there are 4 period variants of the red eagle order 4th class:

1. 1830-1846 cross with smooth arms, completly silver, no enameled medaillon

2. 1846-end of 1850th cross with smooth arms, enameled medaillon and violet eagle !!!!

3. end of 1850th - 1879 cross with smooth arms, enameled medaillon and brickred eagle !!!!

4. 1879-1918 cross with grained arms, enameled medaillon and brickred eagle

Hossauers Jewelry worked until the mid 1850 years and was then sold to Wilm i think. So your 4th class is the real second type and much rarer than the 3rd type with brickred eagle. And it is an original.
