It happens more than ones that some pieces are wrong monthed on the Stars.

I have seen one of such stars at Hendrik's site... But he had a star, where the lion faces the wrongside..

    This is absolutely UGLY....

Such a high order and then so ugly??

However, what do you think of the back??

Pin looks strange.. shouldn't it be more like a needle or ???

    And no jewellers-mark ???

    Posted

    The needle is OK, the marks and de model of needle depends of the juweller who made it, some place the silver mark, some times there own mark, on de older pieces you can find on the center of the back a little plate with the name of the juweller ans his address, like Wolfers, De Vigne-Hart, Heremans, etc;;

    Jummy :P

    Indeed, something like that...

Got two little groups myself with the order of leopold II...

Image is how I got it..

Reribonned them, due to almost digested ribbons.

The veteran must have displayed them proudly,

but then you get the ribbons fading away and then they get digested....

When I touched them, they broke apart in my hands....

A shame, would have loved to dig into that! A former-member of the Dutch Orders and Medals Research Society (SRO) is currently writing a list of Dutchmen who received Belgian awards and I'm still looking for picture material to assist him.

Yes the site is mine, being inspired by Hendrik's website a couple of years ago!

Thanks! I'm trying to update as much as I can, but time is a dangerously limited factor.

And I still have to write English pages to, to make it accessible to non-Dutch visitors.

A shame the seller wouldn't let you have a scan or copy of the photograph. You might give him your mail-address and ask him to give it to the person who bought it.

I tried that once and the other buyer sent me a scan of the rest of the medals I missed. Unfortunately I still haven't percuaded him to sell them to me :(

It was on a online market,

I saw that he wanted to everything separately, immediately sent him an email...

Got an answer, 2 weeks later, some items weren't bidded ( except for the loosy 2 euro bids  )

So I didn't have to persuade him to sell them to me, then I heard of other medals. Like a "IJser"cross etc, which are quite rare, so THEY DID SELL without loosy bids!!! yet... I WANTED THEM TOO, but they had already sold......:wacky:

Got a picture... Showing the whole group, with a picture...

Except for my medals, also the 2 officers without swords

( thought they should be with swords) anyway, made a bid, he wanted 100,- for them with the picture.

Way too much, and next day, someone else bought them....

I asked him to give my emailadress to the buyer..

No respons.... I got an email 2 weeks later.... If he could buy my group... for very very very low price,

    of course, denied....

I could get a copy of his picture, only if I would sell my medals to him...

Well, I only have one answer..... BYE BYE

Well it was a long story, with sometimes rude people. Or people who split groups because they want to make more profit....

But the majority of the group is in MY posession and I have already contacted someone for the officers, Will get them within 2 weeks.

Also looking for a commander of leopold II  Maybe also within 2 weeks.

    You will hear from me

Here comes the ... Rabbit ;)

    Jacky,

Smashing little attributed group !!!

Any ideas why the Leopold II order was conferred on this major ? Something to do with WW1 Belgian refugee camps perhaps ?

    Cheers,

    Hendrik
