ccj Posted October 31, 2015 Author Posted October 31, 2015 Does anyone have other interesting CdG with unusual combinations of palms and stars or silver crosses? I have seen a gilt cross, have others seen gilt versions?
ccj Posted November 1, 2015 Author Posted November 1, 2015 Here are some nice CdG ribbons 1916 CdG top row 1918 CdG bottom row 1915 CdG top row 1917 CdG bottom row
ccj Posted April 23, 2016 Author Posted April 23, 2016 CdG in SILVER with Palm and Star CdG 1915 with 3 Palmes CdG
ccj Posted April 23, 2016 Author Posted April 23, 2016 I do believe so, it's good quality. The little things, don't know name, connecting the ball on top to the upper arm of the cross is nicely detailed. I haven't found silver mark yet but haven't looked too close
Tunneller Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 Here is my silver 1918 Jim Some diplomas Jim Some of my CDG collection, all 14-18
ccj Posted June 24, 2016 Author Posted June 24, 2016 Very nice, is your silver CdG marked? I don't see maker on mine but it's silver and high quality and detailed
Tunneller Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 Yes, it is marked with the Sanglier just under the boule. I have 1916 and 1917 examples also and the Sanglier is difficult to find on those. I`m pleased to find another CDG collector. Your collection is excellent. I love the paperwork that goes with these more than the medal to be honest Jim This is my most prized CDG. Awarded to Lt later Captain Robert Circan 18 RI. I have a number of his diplomas as well as his CDG. He died of wounds 29th March 1918 Jim
Chris Boonzaier Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 Jim, that is fantastic... all of it!! Can you post a close up of the Tanker crertificate? Thanks Chris
Tunneller Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 Chris, This is as good as I can get of the citation. I believe this is Mangins signature
ccj Posted June 25, 2016 Author Posted June 25, 2016 Terrific documents. I've been searching for a good looking one for my wall Here are closer images of my Silver CdG
ccj Posted June 25, 2016 Author Posted June 25, 2016 I don't see a punch on the cross under the suspension ball. It's very ornate in this area but I don't make out any marks. I haven't seen a mark on other areas but not sure the French ever marked crosses anywhere else. ill ll try to take better photos
Tunneller Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 Have you had a really close examination of the whole cross? The Sanglier stamp is extremely small. I have no doubt there are individuals on the forum who know this issue far better than I. The Sanglier stamp I am informed is from the Paris mint
Tunneller Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 Here is my 1917 with the Sanglier just visible This 1916 is in vermeil but you can see the mark
ccj Posted June 25, 2016 Author Posted June 25, 2016 I'm about to take another look with a magnifying glass.
Tunneller Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 Some more diplomas. The first one is signed by General Maud-Huy. Forgive the glare, the certificates are in acid free pockets
ccj Posted June 25, 2016 Author Posted June 25, 2016 Impressive to say the least. Those are top quality docs i looked at my CdG in Silver and it does have the mark. Hard to see and harder to photograph. Hopefully it's viewable.
ccj Posted June 26, 2016 Author Posted June 26, 2016 More CdG, some in wear. So I have 27 WW1 CdG and a few post war.
Tunneller Posted June 27, 2016 Posted June 27, 2016 Fantastic stuff. Thanks for posting these wonderful pieces Jim
