Daniel Krause Posted November 19, 2005 Posted November 19, 2005 Hi Guys,This bar is for a while in my collection and I THINK I managed to ID it.The bar shows:Bav. King Ludwig Cross, BavMMO 3 or 4, Iron Cross, BavJubilee, PrRAO, plain blue ribbon, BavLong Service, Austrian war ribbon. So it looks like a typical rear area Officer / Beamter or recalled zD or aD type. I went through plenty of old listings and came out with just one hot candidate. All my other suspects I could erase for other decorations in WW1.I believe it belonged to Gerhard Freiherr Harsdorf von Enderndorf. In 1907 he went zD as Major, the 1914 Military Handbook lists him with: BavMMO4, BavJubilee, BavXXIV, PrRAO4, PrJoh, WtbgF3a, RussAnna 3All match my bar and the Russian Anna was not longer worn in WW1.He was NOT recalled for WW1 according to the 1926 ERL, just his brother Alexander, who made even General. The clue why I think it is him: my Bavarian secret Wunderwaffe lists him at the 8th September 1917 as LtCol a.D decorated with an Austrian Military merit cross with war decoration! I do wonder, how a not- recalled guy could receive this and not the usual rear area Franz- Joseph order. If any of You have more sources it would be great!Best regardsDanielP.S. BTW I want to express my thanks to Paul Chepurko for the magnificient job he did with the Rangliste on CD Volume!!! It is really a pleasure to work with it. No longer small letters and symbols in 100 year old books; screen- size clear readable scans!
Daniel Krause Posted November 19, 2005 Author Posted November 19, 2005 and here his 1914 Milit?rhandbuch entry
Stogieman Posted November 19, 2005 Posted November 19, 2005 Hi Daniel, super bar and one to be proud of. The Statute ribbon for the BMVO/K is pretty hard to find on ribbon bars!!
Guest Rick Research Posted November 19, 2005 Posted November 19, 2005 I think the Honor Rank List was NOT quite as 100% as we have always expected! Not in the secret 1916 alas since the zDs, dRs, dLs, and recalled aDs are in the missing Band 2 but I fooooooound him. [attachmentid=16388]This is page 229 of "Das Bayernbuch," Bavarian War Ministry. He is indexed as Oberstleutnant zD and shown here as Oberstleutnant aD. (Born 1863, BTW, and in 1903 in 1 CL Regt)But you realize what this means? He's got a noncombatant "black-white" EK2!!!!!
Daniel Krause Posted November 20, 2005 Author Posted November 20, 2005 greeeat additional info !!!!!!Thank You very much!
