Martin W Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 Besides the Kormoran document i posted earlier today i also picked up this set of documents from a crewman of the Hilfskreuzer Orion. The EK2 and HSK doc's are signed by the ships Commander,Kurt Weyher. It seems that after the Orion's return to Germany,Obermaschinenmaat.Storch joined the Minesweeper arm of the Kriegsmarine where he also received his EK1. Regards,Martin.
Martin W Posted October 19, 2009 Author Posted October 19, 2009 (edited) HSK doc.The Orion arived in Bordeaux on Aug 23 1941,i beleive. It looks like Storch was awarded his HSK badge on Aug 25. Edited October 19, 2009 by Martin W
Gordon Williamson Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 Super set Martin ! Aux Cruiser doc is identical format to the one I have.
Chris Boonzaier Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 Fantastic grouping!! I used to have a "thing" for HK documents, but traded my small pile of years and years ago.
Chris Boonzaier Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 Here are my only HK stuff I have... An EK doc to one crew member and a death doc to another. Both for the same action... http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=3296&hl=greif&st=0
Martin W Posted October 20, 2009 Author Posted October 20, 2009 Interesting document Chris. The first one i have ever seen from an Imperial HSK crewman. Gordon, Nice to see the Identical type of "Orion" document, signed by Weyher on the same day. Regards,Martin.

JSlavick Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 Hi Martin and all: Here is what I firmly believe to be an on-board issued equator crossing document from Orion. (I have known on-board documents from Komet and these match the same type of paper, printing and copy style) Joe
Martin W Posted April 14, 2010 Author Posted April 14, 2010 (edited) That is a great document Joe. Thanks for showing. I thought i would post this "Thor" related document also. You mentioned in the past that the crewmembers of the Thor, from both cruises, started their crew comerade group while the war was still in progress. This is one of a few documents i have from their "Kameradschaft" meeting on 3 November 1943. Regards,Martin. Edited April 14, 2010 by Martin W
JSlavick Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 Martin: That is a wonderful Kameradschaft document. I especially like the updates listed about the former crewmen. Orion started their Kameradschaft while the war was still raging too. (1943, I think) Here is the cover of their #3 Kameradschaft booklet. Joe
Martin W Posted April 15, 2010 Author Posted April 15, 2010 Superb Joe. I would imagine that most of the crews from the different ships had "Kameradschaft" groups? Regards,Martin.
JSlavick Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 Superb Joe. I would imagine that most of the crews from the different ships had "Kameradschaft" groups? Regards,Martin. Yes Martin, most used to have a Kameradschaft. A couple started during the war, but most started a few years after the war ended. Here is a photo from Atlantis' first meeting.
Martin W Posted April 16, 2010 Author Posted April 16, 2010 Great photo's Joe. Not too many guys in the Kormoran photo.I wonder if any of the crewmen stayed in Australia after their release? Regards,Martin.
