buellmeister Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 Micha, What a beautiful ensemble. You are indeed a lucky man for obtaining this one! Friedlander is one of my favorite manufacturers. Regards, Joel
Danny70 Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 Micha, That is a magnificent find! Congratulations. Someday I hope I will be lucky enough to add such a fine set to my own collection. Regards - Danny
joe campbell Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 this appears to be issued, unworn! is that correct? joe
Steve campbell Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 Great set! You seem to have been laying low lately. Good to see you back in full force with such nice items.
Motorhead Posted April 25, 2010 Author Posted April 25, 2010 Joe-absolutely correct-the EK was never worn.Steve-It's a bit quite at the EK front.....Nothing spectacular-except an 1914 LDO L/10 screwback in the LDO case. And some bits and pieces. But back to the set.....no one has had a closer look at the box? And the case? Micha
Steve campbell Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 Does the carton say something about being for an officer? The case looks like it has a non standard closure system.
Motorhead Posted April 25, 2010 Author Posted April 25, 2010 Officer? no....and it's just the pusher that's missing at the case. Micha
Motorhead Posted April 26, 2010 Author Posted April 26, 2010 If you have a look at the card box-the material isn't the usual card as used for all prussian awards. It's a kind of crepe card.Much more fragile than the regular ones.I haven't seen much of them the last few years.
Motorhead Posted April 26, 2010 Author Posted April 26, 2010 (edited) Very interesting is also the thickness-have a look at the picture! The direct comparison to a regular EKI card box! Edited April 26, 2010 by Motorhead
Motorhead Posted April 26, 2010 Author Posted April 26, 2010 So there is just one kind of EK case that would fit the crepe box....the thick black one with the white rim in the top. Also not very common. There's another thicker variation(a whine red one),but it's not thick enough to fit perfect! Micha

For comparison(left to right)-standard brown one, thick red one and the black one with the white rim in the top. Micha
Streptile Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 Micha, the set is unbelievable. I have a similar FR in the same exact case. Can I see the reverse of the cross (mark and pin) please?
Obergefreiter Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 My Friedlander is nice, but yours really takes the cake. Very very nice.
Motorhead Posted February 3, 2013 Author Posted February 3, 2013 To bring this old thread back to live......as I've seen just 4 or 5 of these cardboxes before-has anyone here a piece like this in his collection? Mica @Trevor-the reverse is "textbook" "Fr" like-I will try to get some pictures this week
Streptile Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 Thanks Micha! My question was three years old
