scottplen
I believe its peace time or noncombat one!
CRBeery
It is from Baden and the first ribbon is correct for a NC award. This is a nice bar and the first medal is one of my favorites. When you see the relief on it you will be amazed.
Paul R
This is the first time I have seen this medal combination... Does anyone have any ideas to the number of these medals awarded? I love Non combattant awards!!! :jumping:
HeikoGrusdat
This Baden medal is one of the coolest things you can have in your hands - you will enjoy touching it !!! The combination is no problem of course... but I would like to see that needle system a bit bigger....

CRBeery
I think it is more correct to say the first medal is on the civil ribbon which is the most common. To find it on the yellow and red ribbon is hard. If I remember from Dave Danners page there were less than a thousand (744?) on the war ribbon. I wish I could remember these things. Some have the engravers name under the neck. Here is one of my treasures!

scottplen
the typical baden supension bar was removed profesionally My guess at time of mounting it was neatly taken off and standard loop prfensionally applied

CRBeery
Scott, That is a great bar and the type I like to add to the collection when I can. Four LS awards? This guy liked to wear everything and I do not blame him. Chet

scottplen
Thanks Chet ! Do you see a problem with no baden 1870 campaign medal on the noncom bar???
CRBeery
Good question and one I cannot answer. Perhaps they were only given to those that left Baden and were "in field".
VtwinVince
Wow Scott, I'm really liking that SWA bar, a real beauty. And Chet, you're right about the scarcity of the Baden Merit Medal on the war ribbon. I only have one group with this medal, but it's from the 1870 war. HeikoGrusdat
Scott , now that one is a real cracker !!! Great Baden DSWA bar !!! Back to the beginning.... the Baden medal is on the CIVIL ribbon and the name of the "missing" Baden campaign medal is FELDDIENSTAUSZEICHNUNG (field service award) - I think there are a number of posibilities for a man at home to get this combination This thin needle looks a very bit homemade... anything glowing? the yellow thread on the back? from the front it looks really good....
