Guest Rick Research Posted January 15, 2006 Posted January 15, 2006 I actually LIKE the joke one! Got to figure out where toi fit that into the theme of things, though!
Ulsterman Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 (edited) Oberst von der Mulbe @1915 of the Grenadier Guards and the GKK. Killed in action near Nogent, 1917. Edited January 16, 2006 by Ulsterman
Ulsterman Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 Another propoganda postcard with Gefreiter Fritz, Dec. 29, 1916
Ulsterman Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 This is an unusual one-a furled ribbon bar, picture taken in early 1918.
Ulsterman Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 This is a later war ribbon bar. Note this man's rank.
Ulsterman Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 This is one of my favorites- "old China hand"Offz. Strlv. Willi Schrod in Soissons, June 20, 1915:
Ulsterman Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 Here is a Saxon survivor of the war-1919/20. Unusual as the early Reichsheer uniform was only around for about a year.
Ulsterman Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 Here is a Bavarian officer @ 1875. Note the straight, flat 'cruder' style of hook on bar.
Bob Hunter Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 Remarkable photos, Ulsterman. Thanks for posting them.
Guest Rick Research Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 Can't read the number in #53? Is he a Major or an Oberstleutnant? I suspect the latter (REO4, CO3 I'd say, XXV, 1897) and if you can see what the two digit regimental number is, MAYBE a shot at ID'ing him.
Ulsterman Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 (edited) Only 6.18.15 is on the back of #53. I think he is a Major. Sadly, this as well as I can do: Edited January 16, 2006 by Ulsterman
Steve K. Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 My contribution to the bars....simple, with a nice Bavarian crown device.
