slava1stclass Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 Gents, All told, 17 Red Army personnel were awarded the Medal for Valor five times. Here are photos of three of them. Regards, slava1stclass Georgiy Sidorovich Zabaluyev was assigned to the 469th Separate Motor Transport Company.
slava1stclass Posted July 20, 2011 Author Posted July 20, 2011 Aleksey Nikolayevich Voronov - fought from Stalingrad to Austria.
Paul R Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 Wow! Great photos. I do have a question about this... why did they not receive higher awards, subsequent to the Valor Medal. From the citations I read, there was not that much difference in the magnitude of accomplishment between a Valor Medal and other orders, like the Red Star, Order of Glory, and etc.
slava1stclass Posted August 20, 2013 Author Posted August 20, 2013 Gents, Add Guards Sergeant V. S. Ippolitova to the list. She was a combat medic. Five, that's right, five Medals for Valor. She is on the left in the wartime image. She is truly a soldier's soldier as embodied in her decision to wear nothing but her five For Valor medals on her medal bar. None of those fluff anniversary medals for her. I like it. Regards, slava1stclass
Eric Gaumann Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 In the first photo, Zabaluyev's, what are the ribbons on his two CSMs? They look like German EK2 ribbons?!?!?!?!? Slava, is that photo dated perchance?
Rogi Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 (edited) I think they're (the CSM) the newer type ribbon for the suspension (5 star suspension?) ribbon I've seen a couple around on ebay like that, just never knew that they actually wore them as such Edited August 21, 2013 by Rogi
JapanX Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 Photo of Zabaluyev is not dated. Back and four citations can be found here (posts #135-139) http://gmic.co.uk/index.php/topic/26385-four-fours/page-7
