Richard Gordon Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 Here's something I've had for some time that I never got around to photographing. I couldn't say for sure if it's really for an EK1 but it does fit...just. Maybe for a prinzen or something else but for now this will do.
Richard Gordon Posted January 27, 2006 Author Posted January 27, 2006 And the exterior for your interest.Anyone know for sure what it would have originally contained?Rich
joe campbell Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 i don't know about the original contents, richard, but THAT is one sweet case!!!you have a unique piece of history there!my compliments!joe
Stogieman Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 Hi Richard, I have seen these with the EK2 & EK1. I believe they were sold independent of the cross itself.
Stogieman Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 OH yes, yours is in exceptional condition. You will rarely find it with all thelittle trim pieces intact like yours. very, very, very nice!
Glenn R Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 Here's mine. This came with an 800 Godet marked EK2. I believeit to be an after market purchased case as suggested above. Sadly only lacking the strap from the spike to the rear of the helmet.
Glenn R Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 This is the cross it came with. Original length of silk ribbon and ring stamped "G 800"
Glenn R Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 Clearly 2 variations of a theme Rich. Yours has painted metalwork whereas mine has no traces of paint but the metal seems the same as that visible beneath the finish on yours The scarlet liner on yours looks superb whereas mine is black based with a coarse white upper lid lining.I have also seen these with the usual patriotic inscriptions on the inner lid.Nice piece Rich.!!
Richard Gordon Posted January 28, 2006 Author Posted January 28, 2006 Thanks for the compliments. I kind of thought you'd like it.@ Glenn : The 2 are virtually identical externally but as you mention except for the strap, painted metal and the spike is a different shape. Any signs that your's ever had the strap from spike to hinge?Rich
Glenn R Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 Yes, there was a strap as evidenced by the fact that the fabric is darker where the strap once was, although you can't see it from these pictures.Interesting that the wappen is the same design.
Minas Henrik Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 Hi Guys! That i call lovely and nice looking case and of cors Cross to. The case is the best looking i ever seen before.Best Regards Henrik.

Daniel Murphy Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 Richard, Great case, the red lining makes it very distinctive and beautiful. The cross is not so bad either. Glenn, It is a shame it is damaged, but I have been wanting one of these for years. I would buy one even if it was in poor condition. Great case as well.Dan Murphy
Guest Darrell Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 Great case. Now THAT would be one to put in the "keeper" box
