HuliganRS Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 That was meant that I can get one from a deler with large and crisp pictures that would gaurantee to me it's authenticity for $150 more.I have never called your piece a fake.I didn't buy it, that's all there's to it.Respectfully,Rusty.
HuliganRS Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 The more I looked at it, something wasn't just right! It looked good but I had a weird feeling about it...I decided to pass. I can get a real one for about $150 more. Rusty.Where do you see that I wrote it was a fake?Did you not read the part where I said: "It looked good..."
order_of_victory Posted February 1, 2006 Author Posted February 1, 2006 I did read that, i was just concerned with the fraise a "a real one".I agree though the pictures did show the medal off to its best, i'll have to look at my lighting or may be a better camara next time.Order of Victory
Stogieman Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 Well, like I said privately to several people. I spent several hours trying to find something wrong with it and could not. big, crisp pictures of the front and maybe I would have bid. But this item was outside my area of interest at the moment, so I backed off. Better pictures will always yield better results!
HuliganRS Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 I agree! If I have seen large and crisp pictures, I would not hesitate to bid $500 and up.Rusty.
order_of_victory Posted February 2, 2006 Author Posted February 2, 2006 Dave,I agree with you I like my medals with a bit of character. I have been toying with the idea of replacing some of ribbons on my medals but decided against it because I think they would lose character. The thing that gets me about Soviet medals is that the Soviets can produce them to high standards but when alter or repair them they make a mess of them, Is it just me who thinks that?
order_of_victory Posted February 15, 2006 Author Posted February 15, 2006 HiSince my last posts on the Order of Red Banner of Labour and Order of the Red Banner of Labour of the Trans-Causian Republic. I have had then checked out by some one who know a lot about Soviet Medals, Not PMD, he as checked the Enamle uder a 'Black Light'. The enamle didnt shine wich means the medals must have been produced in Soviet Russia, not after the wall came down! Has anybody got any more suggetions on the authenticity of these medals?
HuliganRS Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 Fakers have been using real enamel for years now. It's at a point where knowledgeble collectors are getting fooled by the high quality re-enameling.Rusty.
Stogieman Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 I would agree, while a useful tool, simply blacklighting an enameled piece is no guarantee of authenticity.
order_of_victory Posted February 17, 2006 Author Posted February 17, 2006 From this it sound to me like soon we are not going to be able to tell real Soviet Medals from Fakes.Im going to have to look in to these medals further!
Mogul Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 Transcaucasian Order Of Labor looks legit. Check out my topic here for further details.

order_of_victory Posted May 31, 2012 Author Posted May 31, 2012 I have been out of loop for while, so I do apologise now i things have changed in absence from the scene, But I think we will never be 100% sure weather some of these early soviet medals are genuine or not, every one will have there own opinion and personally I am happy to have them in my collection. I love seeing these early pieces and I think they are asset to any collection. Vic

JapanX Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 (edited) I said "years ago". Sorry, I misread your phrase "Got this one years ago by a lucky chance". Edited June 1, 2012 by JapanX
