Signalcorps45
Hello to everyone, I am not sure where to put this, so I put it here. I have an opportunity to buy this bar, but I have some concerns. I would like members to comment on this bar. I only have a front and back picture of the bar. VtwinVince
Very unusual, but possible combination. I tend to shy away from these metal-backed bars for obvious reasons.
dond
It looks believable to me. The wear on the ribbons is consistant as is the mounting style, furls, and devices. It doesn't look to have been monkied with.
Signalcorps45
VtwinVince and Don, Thank you for your help. I did have some concerns with the swords devices even being on the bar. Dean
dond
Swords on ribbons when the award is present is not unheard of.
Signalcorps45
Don, Thanks for help, just wanted to make sure. Dean
Claudius
I like it. It appears that the original owner really didn't like "dangly" things. For proof, I would draw your attention to the fact that owner didn’t use the metal hangers on the back plate. Furthermore, when the medal bar was constructed, he had the medals hang up high on the bar, instead of near the bottom were they would swing more freely. However, #5 probably moves quite a bit by itself. Dean can confirm. The swords on the ribbon are gratuitous, but I believe them to be a period affectation and they don’t bother me in the least. Signalcorps45
Claudius, Thank you for your help. I do appreciate your input. I am trying to settle on a price for this bar. Dean
Stogieman
I think the bar is fine, I'd buy it. You will be hard pressed to find more than a few exanples of the Sax-Coburg Medal in mounted groups.....
Signalcorps45
Stogieman, Thank you for your help. It seems after all this is a good bar. Dean
seeheld
I like this bar. The combination is a little bit stange, but possible. If you want to sell is once a day... Best regards Seeheld
Signalcorps45
Seeheld, A final price has not been settled on as of yet, so I am not sure I will be able to purchase bar. If I do and want to sell it, I will give you first try. Dean
