Chris Boonzaier Posted January 3, 2013 Author Posted January 3, 2013 WOW... so I guess an officer in Oberland would have rubbed shoulders with a bunch of future "higher" guys....
IrishGunner Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 would have rubbed shoulders with a bunch of future "higher" guys.... Among other parts... Sorry, couldn't resist...
Deruelle Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 Hi, Felix Steiner fought in Freikorps. Can someone tells me which unit, I can't remember ! Thanks Christophe

Chris Boonzaier Posted January 8, 2013 Author Posted January 8, 2013 Do you think this is for the regular Silesian Eagle 2nd class, or for the Oberland Silesian award? All the best Chris
Destruction Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Do you think this is for the regular Silesian Eagle 2nd class, or for the Oberland Silesian award? All the best Chris Hi Chris, Congratulations on a great group including beautiful document!!! Yes, this one is for SE 2nd class. Docs for Oberland Silesian medal look different.

Oberland Posted May 10, 2021 Posted May 10, 2021 Freikorps warrior after Battle of Annaberg June 1921 in the field

Oberland Posted May 11, 2021 Posted May 11, 2021 Yes, 1. Bataillon 4. Kompanie Freikorps Oberland in upper slesia. This is his arm shield
bolewts58 Posted May 12, 2021 Posted May 12, 2021 (edited) I know. You've already shown it before. That's one of the 4 regular companies in Freikorps Oberland. But, that's not Sturmbataillon Teja, which was a special assault unit within Freikorps Oberland. Unless you have something that specifically says your grandfather was in the assault batallion, then he was just a regular Freikorps Oberland member. Did he receive Die Gedenkmünze für Oberschlesien or Der Adler des Sturmzuges? Both of these awards were for the Sturmbataillon Teja only. Edited May 12, 2021 by bolewts58
Oberland Posted May 22, 2021 Posted May 22, 2021 Hi Brian, wasn't the Gedenkmünze for all active members in Oberschlesien to purchase 1927 and the Adler Sturmzug for Members of the 1st Kompanie under command of Oestreicher I thought Sturmbataillon Teja was the 1st Bataillion Freikorps Oberland in Oberschlesien
bolewts58 Posted May 24, 2021 Posted May 24, 2021 22 hours ago, Oberland said: I see it was only 1. Kompanie Yes Sturmfahne Teja was 1. Kompanie, 1 Bataillon and they were the only ones eligible for the Gedenkmünze. Here is a postcard and armshield for Sturmfahne Teja.
Oberland Posted May 26, 2021 Posted May 26, 2021 I thought I have read somewhere the whole 1. Bataillon was Teja. But this is daccord with the memoirs of Mr. Weber
