fukuoka Posted January 13, 2013 Author Posted January 13, 2013 Another order. Again--sorry to be so ignorant--but I cannot identify it.
pieter1012 Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Richard, thanks again for the nice pictures from the collection of Okuma. The Belgian one is the Grandcross order of Leopold (civil division). The case is wrong; belongs to the Italian order of the Crown (U on the lid is for Umberto) The second order is the Grandcross of the order of the Red Eagle of Prussia and the third one is the grandcross of the order of Villa Vicosa of Portugal. Pieter
fukuoka Posted January 13, 2013 Author Posted January 13, 2013 Thanks very much, Pieter! As I stated before, I am taking notes so I don't have to ask again. Sorry about the case mistake. I must have mixed up the photos.
JapanX Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 I think this is the Russian award document for the Nevsky Order. Yes, it is! Nice calligraphy! P.S. Always loved these sash badges of Red Eagle Order ;)
fukuoka Posted January 14, 2013 Author Posted January 14, 2013 No case, but a permission to wear document. Dated Meiji 43.

JapanX Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 No case, but a permission to wear document. Dated Meiji 43. Double Dragon And beautiful early white elephant ...
922F Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 Wonderful images!! Number 110-112 is a Norwegian St. Olaf.
Gensui Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 Chris, I am a digillitarate and don't know how to put pictures on GMIC. But if you go to the site of Richard (imperialjapanmedalsandbadges) under Grandcordon a picture is shown of Kato's order of the Chrysanthemum document, which he received posthumously on 28 January 1926. The Grandcordon shown by Richard is not Kato's, but his looks exactly the same. Hope this is of some use to you, Pieter Pieter, That's ok for me, for sure! BTW, if you have further information (documents, pictures, etc.) about Kato Takaaki, please feel free to contact me via pm. BR, Chris
fukuoka Posted January 18, 2013 Author Posted January 18, 2013 Some paper to go with the White Elephant order
fukuoka Posted January 18, 2013 Author Posted January 18, 2013 And the contents, which I cannot read.
fukuoka Posted January 18, 2013 Author Posted January 18, 2013 Another fine piece for your consideration
JapanX Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 Yep, indeed very nice "Crown" he had! It's a bummer that they didn't make the pictures of reverses ...
Dieter3 Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 Another great thread, especially fantastic documents!!! Thanks Rich, really nice.
