Chris Boonzaier Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 I am busy digging a mortar pit in the orchard, I want to photograph my Minenwerfer in my own dugout ;-) In the meantime I have been getting material to give me ideas...
Chris Boonzaier Posted February 15, 2013 Author Posted February 15, 2013 If anyone has any pics, I need ideas for my bunker....
ccj Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 Woudn't it be great to have one of these in ones personal bunker? I'd love to have a mortar and a machine gun
Hoss Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 Chris You want to just make a logged walled pit for a mortar? An underground bunker is a LOT of work especially 4 room jobs, it nearly killed me the 'main room' oak roof beams each weighted 250-300lb the front door 200 for example. Best Eric
Chris Boonzaier Posted February 18, 2013 Author Posted February 18, 2013 Hi, I am just going to do a pit. I need to stay flexible, i basically want to do a pit for the mortar, do a series of photos, then change it into a MG position for some photos. You want to dig another 4 room bunker? I have place and a spade waiting for you ;-)
Brian Wolfe Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 I've wanted a small artillery piece for years with the intention of making a gun emplacement in our small bush lot in the back of the property. Something with sand bags etc. to look like a hidden gun emplacement. I've recently been told that Linda will tollerate almost any of my "odd" ideas regarding collecting but a cannon of any size, shape or type will be the final straw. I mention this as you are not the only one who comes up with ideas that seem to bewilder our wives and perhaps drives them over the edge. Good luck my friend, just remember that in marridge, if you are going to dance on the mine field you will have to get used to being called "stumpy". Regards Brian
Chris Boonzaier Posted February 18, 2013 Author Posted February 18, 2013 "just remember that in marridge, if you are going to dance on the mine field you will have to get used to being called "stumpy"." No Way Amigo.... I am the one with the artillery!!
Bernhard H.Holst Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Hello: Something for Chris to perhaps give some idea as to depth etc for his planned emplacement of his personal heavy weapon: Have fun Bernhard H. Holst
Hoss Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 Chris Been reading the Brits had a red painted mortar round for each gun in case they had to abandon, time delay and explode in the breech did the Germans have similar? Eric
Chris Boonzaier Posted May 27, 2013 Author Posted May 27, 2013 Hi Eric, no idea, probably never thought they would have to abandon ;-)
Chip Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 (edited) I've got a Nachrichten round for the light MW. Never could find an H.E. version. Sold my Granatenwerfer years ago. Still have a message round for it. Chip Edited June 1, 2013 by Chip
Spandau Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 The logged wall rotted out so we replaced it with a concrete/brick structure.
ccj Posted March 24, 2017 Posted March 24, 2017 Wonderful, I'd love to visit your battlefield some day. Looks like a lot of fun what type plane is that approaching?
ccj Posted March 24, 2017 Posted March 24, 2017 How exciting. You need a thread about your re-enacting battles ask dugouts How to I join up?
Spandau Posted March 24, 2017 Posted March 24, 2017 (edited) Our unit is currently full, but there are plenty of units on both side who are hungry for new members. You should contact the Great War Association. This is the parent organization above all of the individual units/clubs. http://www.great-war-assoc.org/ Regards, Steve Edited March 24, 2017 by Spandau typo
