The Prussian Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 Do you have photos of the great war and photos with the same place in our times? I start with Fresnes-en-Woevre. The old photo is from my collection, but the new one if from the net
Glenn R Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 This could be really interesting. Nice first pair Andy. Got any more? Must be some other members with similar?
The Prussian Posted October 26, 2013 Author Posted October 26, 2013 No, I´ve got this pair only. I hope, there are many others!
Glenn R Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 Great idea for a thread Andy. Let's hope there's more takers.
Chris Boonzaier Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 Great idea for a thread Andy. Let's hope there's more takers. I hope so to, at the moment I have not really taken pics "Now and then"... but I will....
Tony Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 The same street in Ypres - 1913, 1915 and 1995. Tony
IrishGunner Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 The Ypres photos from three years... That's impressive. I wonder what it looked like in 1945
The Prussian Posted October 27, 2013 Author Posted October 27, 2013 Yes, Great! The Ypres-Triple is very interesting

Mike McLellan Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 Fascinating! I wonder, though, if these medieval treasures could be rebuilt today. Many of the trades-craft are a lost art. Even the materials used such as the timbers are simply non-existent. That’s why the recent undertaking at Norte Dame was such an awe inspiring event. We can’t just keep blowing stuff up and hoping to put it back together. Let’s see more pictures. They’re very inspiring. Mike.

BalkanCollector Posted July 18, 2019 Posted July 18, 2019 Not exactly a place since it stayed the same but a striking photo of the Battalion of the 79th Queens Own Cameron Highlanders taken in 1914 before going to war and in 1918 after their return. Only 28 of them left! I believe the photos were taken in front of Edinburgh Castle. I should note that I found the photo somewhere on internet.
